2022 Gunner Vanourney, North Linn
One of four sophomores in the Lynx’s starting lineup, Vanourney is the team’s most deadly shooter from 3. The 5-10 guard has made 47 3s this season, which ranks second on the team, but his 45.6% from deep is what stands out. He’s also a solid ball handler who has dished out 57 assists against just 22 turnovers.
2022 Thomas Schwartz, Treynor
A 5-11 sophomore guard, Schwartz will be relied upon to make some 3s for the Cardinals off the bench. He’s 21-48 (43.8%) from deep this season, averaging 4.1 points a game. If he can knock down a few 3s a game during the tournament for Treynor, it would go a long ways towards helping the Cardinals claim a state title.
2023 Mason Coppock, West Sioux
The 6-0 freshman guard is the younger brother of Falcons star Bryce Coppock Bryce Coppock 5'10" | SG West Sioux | 2020 State IA , and has had a productive freshman season scoring the ball, averaging 8.6 points a game and shooting 43.4% from the arc.
2020 Pacey Moats, Woodward-Granger
A 5-10 senior guard, Moats is the secondary ball handler for the Hawks, dishing out 74 assists against 37 turnovers. He’s an efficient scorer, averaging 7.8 points a game on 52.7% shooting, and has made 21 3s, which ranks second on the team.
2023 Tate Petersen, Monticello
Petersen is small, listed at just 5-8, but has been a solid presence in the backcourt for the Panthers this season, dishing out 63 assists against 32 turnovers and knocking down a team-high 49 3s (at a 43.4% clip). The freshman guard will look to really put his name on the map with a big week at State.
2021 Jordan Lawrence Jordan Lawrence 5'9" | PG Camanche | 2021 State IA , Camanche
Lawrence is a 5-10 junior guard for the Indians, and one of the most tenacious on-ball defenders I’ve seen this year. He missed all of last season recovering from an ACL injury, but has picked up right where he left off after a solid freshman campaign. He loves to pick opposing ball handlers up full court and really make them work, and he’s a great athlete who can also fill it up from 3 on the offensive end. His 28 made 3s rank second for Camanche, but it’s his work on the defensive end that makes him special.
2020 Josh Heitritter, Boyden-Hull
The 6-3 senior forward does a bit of everything for the Comets, contributing to their winning ways across the board with his versatility. He can score inside and out, is an effective rebounder on both ends of the floor and a solid passer.
2020 Ryan Vande Haar, Pella Christian
A 6-5 senior, Vande Haar is just the fifth leading scorer for the Eagles, but he’s an important piece for them with his ability to defend multiple positions and pass the basketball. His 76 assists lead the team, and he has pulled down the third most rebounds.
