This is a finale between the No. 3 and 4 seeds in the bracket. Cherry Hill East ended No. 16 Egg Harbor’s Cinderella run in the semis. Atlantic City was able to get the better of No. 2 Lenape.
It began with Cherry Hill East. They were taken to double-overtime against Egg Harbor who has been the shock of the bracket. In the end, Drew Greene Drew Greene 5'10" | PG Cherry Hill East | 2022 State NJ and Jake Green were too much. Greene finished with 21 points and Green was right behind him with 14. Cherry Hill East outscored Egg Harbor 9-7 over the course of two over time periods.
Atlantic City and Lenape were close throughout the game. Atlantic City trailed by two heading into the final quarter. They outscored Lenape 22-17 in the fourth. Stephen Byard Stephen Byard 6'7" | PF Atlantic City | 2020 State NJ was unconscious in this one. He finished with 38 points to lead all scores. Whenever his team needed a bucket, Byard would get one. He has been hot recently averaging better than 27 points over the last three games.
This is going to be one of the better finals around the state. This is a bracket that has been completely blown up from round one and the finale will feature two confident teams. Both of them have very different styles of play. Cherry Hill East is balanced. Ryan Greene runs point and is an effective facilitator. Greene is the finisher and Green can do it all. They are joined by EJ Matthews-Spartley and Noah Rose.
Atlantic City is more top heavy but that is not a bad thing when led by Byard. He is a dominant player down low and on the boards. Byard has the ability to shoot from deep but he does not stray out there too much. If it is not Byard, it could be Teriq Chapman or Ja’Heen Fredericks.
This game will come down to which group of stars takes over early. They are both loaded with talent and have players who can take over a game over the course of 32 minutes. It is always exciting when two teams matchup who may not have been expected to be there. There will be plenty of eyes on this one.
