NJ Stat Leaders for 2019-2020

<p><em><span style="font-size: 8pt;">Photo by Observer Tribune</span></em></p> <p>The 2019-2020 season is officially over. It was a season full of excitement thanks to the dynamic players on both sides of the ball. Many players will be back next season to show themselves off once again. Until then, we have to appreciate what we saw on the floor this season -- especially from these players. Here are the stat leaders from around the state.</p> <p><strong>POINTS: Maurice Odom (2022) | Union City: 27.2 per game</strong></p> <p>Odom was just a sophomore this season but his play exceeded his years. Odom led the state averaging 27.2 points per game for Union City. He exceeded 30 points nine times including a season-high 39 points twice against Dwight-Morrow and North Bergen. Odom knocked down 86 three’s this season and made a killing at the free throw line with 157 made from the charity stripe. At 6’1, Odom already has good size and will continue to grow and develop his game. That is a scary thought for opponents moving forward.</p> <p>2. [player_tooltip player_id="933642" first="Kalleem" last="Lambert"] (2020) | Hillside: 23.6 PPG</p> <p><strong>REBOUNDS: Ethan Mulder (2021) | Veritas Christian: 19.8 per game</strong></p> <p>At 6’5, Mulder was a load down low. He was the definition of a rebounding machine during his junior year at Veritas Christian. Mulder grabbed 20 or more rebounds eight times throughout the year. He set a season-high in December in a win over Faith Christian where he grabbed 33 rebounds. Rebounding is about timing and instinct and Mulder is a player who has both.</p> <p>2. [player_tooltip player_id="929679" first="Josh" last="Randall"] (2020) | Gloucester Tech: 13.5 RPG</p> <p><strong>ASSISTS: [player_tooltip player_id="900309" first="Christian" last="Cevis"] (2021) | West Morris: 8.8 per game</strong></p> <p>Cevis set the tone for his season early on when he notched 10 or more assists in the first four games. This included a 16-assist performance against St. Joe’s Metuchen. Cevis would go on to dish out double-digit assists in 12 games. He averaged a state-leading 8.8 assists per contest. Cevis is a true point guard who can score and pass. He is also a pest on defense averaging close to four steals per game. West Morris will have Cevis back for one more season to lead their team.</p> <p>2. [player_tooltip player_id="896450" first="Gianmarco" last="Arletti"] (2020) | Holy Cross Prep: 6.6 APG</p> <p><strong>STEALS: Savion Pressley (2022) | Wardlaw-Hartridge: 6.4 per game</strong></p> <p>Pressley finished with two steals in the third game of the season. After that, he did not have less than five in any game for the rest of the schedule. The St. Thomas Aquinas transfer found a new home at Wardlaw-Hartridge and provided a spark immediately. Pressley’s season-high came against East Brunswick Tech where he finished with 10 steals. On the year, Pressley averaged 6.4 per contest.</p> <p>2. Mehkai Huey (2022) | Wardlaw-Hartridge: 4.7 SPG</p> <p><strong>BLOCKS: [player_tooltip player_id="850316" first="Cliff" last="Omoruyi"] (2020) | Roselle Catholic: 4.7 per game</strong></p> <p>Omoruyi is the most dominant player in New Jersey. He will announce college decision on March 29. He has narrowed down his final three to Rutgers, Arizona State, and Auburn. At 6’11, Omoruyi led the state in blocks using his size, length, and incredible athleticism. He had five games with 10 or more blocks including two in the state tournament against The Patrick School and Marist. Omoruyi is going to be a star at the next level and that is a surprise to no one who saw him play at Roselle Catholic.</p> <p>2. Ethan Mulder (2021) | Veritas Christian: 4.4 BPG</p>
