Salem Baptist Christian gets their revenge
During the regular season, Trinity Academy defeated Salem Baptist twice, the first time by 13 points and the second time by four at home. In the Tri-Tac Conference Tournament Championship, they turned things around, getting a 74-57 victory. It was the Vikings first-ever Conference Tournament Championship since joining the conference and it was bittersweet, coming in their third meeting against the Tigers.
Brandon Summers steps up in the paint
Unsigned senior Brandon Summers had himself a game playing above the rim and in the paint. He’s a 6-foot-8 forward that’s coming along in the Salem Baptist frontcourt. He finished with 22 points with 10 points in the first half and 12 in the second half, pacing the Vikings in their quest to victory.
Eli Arnold locks in
2021 guard Eli Arnold was locked in for the Salem Baptist backcourt all game long. Arnold posted 25 points along with two 3-pointers to lead the way on offense for the Vikings. He put in nine of his points down the stretch in the fourth quarter as they kept their distance and their lead to seal a win. He’s coming along as a guard that can create off the dribble and get to the rim.
Noah Ross still kept shooting
The Trinity Academy Tigers fell short in the end but 2022 wing Noah Ross still had himself a game. He posted 23 points while knocking down six 3-pointers to pace the Tigers offense. They had a few shortcomings and foul trouble to battle through, but the sharpshooter didn’t let it slow him down. He’s a prospect to keep an eye on at Trinity.
Tyler Gill ends up on the wrong side of foul trouble
Tyler Gill had himself quite a start to the game, putting up seven points in the first half, but he battled foul trouble throughout the contest. He picked up three fouls in the first half and sat for much of Salem Baptist’s offensive run. At halftime, the Tigers trailed 32-22. Then with roughly four minutes left in the third quarter, Gill picked up his fifth foul and fouled out while never being able to find a rhythm. He’ll definitely bounce back in the state playoffs.
