Defending AA city champions, 3 peat as boro champions. Entering the tournament as the 2 seed, the Vikings defeated Benjamin Banneker 97-61. Benjamin Banneker went on a great run, knocking off the number 1 seed Boys and Girls HS in the semi-finals. Marcus Burnett led in the championship game with 21 points and 6 rebs. Ziare Wells contributed with 15 points and 5 assists. Jahiem Mason delivered 12 points and 7 rebs. No one has had the answer for the Vikings, they have a strong chance to repeat as city champs.
Manhattan AA
Wheels defeat TMA in the boro championship game. 2019 Manhattan Boro Champion Thurgood Marshall managed to get back to the finals, but could not stop Wheels. The final score was 63-56. Randy Crosby Randy Crosby 6'1" | SG Wheels | 2021 State NY led with 25 points and 4 assists. Jeremiah Davis dished 13 points and 7 rebounds. This was a big win for the program, the sky is the limit for what they can do in the city playoffs.
Queens AA
After losing last season in the boro finals to Cardozo high school, John Bowne found a way to stand on top this season. Number 2 Seed John Bowne defeated HS of teaching in dominant fashion (66-38). Matt Parkinson led with 16 pts and 8 rebounds. Amare Bonas added 14 points and 9 rebounds. Mouhamed Dioubate put up 11 points and 13 rebounds. Only time will tell how they perform in the city playoffs. The wildcats have the tools to make a run.
Bronx AA
Wings Academy knocks off number 1 Eagle Academy in boro final. Eagle Academy had full control of the regular season, as back to back Bronx AA division champions. This championship was game low for both teams (38-49). This defensive battle was led by Jay Woodard with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Chris Riley chimed in 11 points and 5 assists. The boro title should stamp them with a high seed. Wings Academy has a shot to be number 1 in the city.
Staten Island
After being Staten Island’s runner up for three seasons, Staten Island Tech is on top. For a long time, Staten Island tech could not get pass Curtis HS. This season they can claim the Staten island championship at 13-1. This run was led by Adonis Rodriguez (12 PPG. 4 RPG) & Daquan Khamis (12 PPG. 5 RPG).
Every player can produce during the regular season. Primetime players produce in the postseason. The postseason is when pressure is applied and expectations have to be met. Only primetime players can meet those expectations. Soon enough we shall see who is the best of the best.
