They won the first three quarters and held a nine point lead heading into the fourth. McEachern scored 30 points in the fourth quarter but came up just short 75-72. The Patrick School was able to survive an onslaught from Sharife Cooper who finished with 39 points. Here are some things we learned about The Patrick School in this win.
Zarique Nutter is the real deal
Nutter has stepped up for The Patrick School at a time where they need him the most. The 6’4 junior finished with 25 points, six rebounds, and five assists in this win. He is a slasher on the court who uses his elite speed to get to the basket. Nutter did not hit any three-point shots in this game but he does not have to because of his mid-range game. Nutter has offers from UMass, St. Peter’s, and Coppin State. During his senior year, that list will grow. Nutter is a player and one of the top in the state.
The Patrick School can survive without key players
The big news around The Patrick School was incoming transfer players such as Jonathan Kuminga and Adama Sanogo. they have not been on the floor much this season but the team has survived behind other key players like Nutter. Noah Farrakhan is a top five player in New Jersey and has stepped up. He finished with 19 points against McEachern. Chris Jiao and Samson Johnson have also been key contributors.
Celtics play inside at will
The Patrick School finished with just one three-pointer in this game. What they do have is a lot of size. When a team has size like The Patrick School does, it is not necessary to hoist up three’s. Also, they have lightning quick guards who can get inside and score at the rim. This is a team that gets a lot of high percentage shots around the rim and that is a huge reason they are so dangerous.
