Isaac Parson earns first two offers
Finally, 2020 point guard Isaac Parson is starting to get noticed by college coaches. This past weekend after his performance in the John Wall Holiday Invitational he earned offers from Mount Olive and Winston-Salem State. Kinston High faced off against Moravian Prep, Combine Academy and Holly Springs in this year’s John Wall Holiday Invitational. Parson is also starting to generate interest from other D1 and D2 programs. He is one of a few guards considered to be underrated in the state of North Carolina.
Millbrook and Farmville Central take losses in The John Wall
Speaking of the John Wall Holiday Invitational, the Millbrook Wildcats and Farmville Central Jaguars suffered their first losses of the 2019-20 season in what was an action-packed event. The Wildcats fought hard against Montverde but were no match in the end as they fell 82-53, but 2021 big man Will Felton still managed to finish with 16 points and 10 rebounds. 2021 forward Eric van der Heijden finished with 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor and 3-of-5 shooting from 3 as well.
The Jaguars lost in overtime to The Patrick School (NJ) 83-76 snapping their streak of . Things went back and forth all game long but an 16-9 outburst in overtime from the Celtics was enough to get the job done. NC State commit and 2021 wing Terquavion Smith finished with 30 points while North Carolina Central commit Justin Wright finished with 20 points, six rebounds and four assists. Unsigned senior Samage Teel also finished with 14 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Joshua Norman returns
In his first game back from a broken fibula, Northwest Halifax Vikings senior guard Joshua Norman looked like his old self against KIPP Pride in a 76-70 victory. Norman put up 17 points, six assists and four rebounds since returning from his injury on Oct. 6. The Vikings are 6-2 on the season and get a key piece of their rotation back as conference season approaches. They were considered an early 1A State Title contender at the beginning of the season. Norman holds offers from Wake Tech and Central Carolina Community College.
South Granville continues to roll
The South Granville Vikings remain undefeated at 12-0 after winning their 10th Annual South Granville Holiday Invitational, defeating the likes of Cary, Knightdale and Rolesville en route to the Championship crown. The Vikings defeated Rolesville 84-74 in the title game. 2021 guard Bobby Pettiford Jr. took home MVP honors in the title game with 31 points on 13-of-21 (62 percent) shooting from the field. Jones finished with 17 points and seven assists while Allen finished with 23 points and nine rebounds.
Don’t sleep on C.J. Ray
Another unsigned senior college coaches should give some attention to is South Johnston Trojans forward C.J. Ray. Ray is a 6-foot-4 forward that is off to a strong start to the 2019-20 season. He had a strong outing in the South Johnston Christmas Tournament and was named to the All-Tournament team when it was all said and done. Ray posted 31 points in the championship game against C.B. Aycock and 18 points against in their opening-round game. He’s an inside-out threat that makes things happen all over the floor and has done a lot to change his body in the gym. At 9-1 on the season, South Johnston is a team to keep an eye on in 3A play and Ray is a prospect worth a look in the unsigned senior market.
