This weekend, Kean will host three more games on Saturday night then the action will move to Johnson Regional on Sunday. There is a total of eight games left and plenty of action will take place between some of the state’s top teams. Here are the top players to watch this weekend.
Simeon Wilcher (2023) | Roselle Catholic
Roselle Catholic is full of talent in the senior class. CJ Wilcher is committed to Xavier, Niels Lane is headed to Florida, and Richie Greaves will play for Binghamton. Ciff Omoyuri is uncommitted but is expected to make his decision soon. One name to keep an eye on is freshman point guard Simeon Wilcher. He has jumped into the starting lineup for the Lions and is playing incredibly. He has emerged as one of the top underclassmen in the state this season. Wilcher already has some high level offers and that number will undoubtedly grow over the years.
Mark Armstrong (2022) | St. Peter’s Prep
Armstrong is one of the top sophomores in the state this season. He is the clear leader on St. Peter’s Prep averaging over 21 points per game. At 6’3, Armstrong already possesses the size to be a great guard and he is showing that. Armstrong has knocked down 24 three’s this season and has been effective at getting to the free throw line. Armstrong will be one of the top recruits in his class moving forward.
Donavin Crawford (2021) | Trenton Catholic
Crawford is second on the team in scoring behind VCU commit Jamir Watkins. Crawford is scoring 12.5 points per game during his junior campaign. He leads the team in three-pointers made with 24 and has made an impact on the boards and dishing the ball. Crawford is a player that can go off at any time. There is a lot of attention being paid to Watkins and Crawford has the skill to take over a game.
Amari Campbell (2022) | St. Joe’s Metuchen
The Falcons are once again one of the top teams in the GMC. They have a long and rich history of success and that is continuing this season with a 9-3 start. Sophomore Amari Campbell is a big reason why. He is leading the team in scoring, rebounding, and foul shots this season. He has been a force on both sides of the ball and is the leader that St. Joe’s needs after graduating key players from last season.
Elijah Barlow (2021) | Union Catholic
Union Catholic was a dark-horse team to watch coming into the season. They already have impressive wins over Hudson Catholic, Plainfield, and Union. Barlow has been the main reason. He is averaging 10 points per game this season and has three games with five or more assists. Barlow has emerged as an intriguing prospect in the conference and certainly at Union Catholic.
Jakin Edmond (2021) | Union
Union will go as far as Edmond will take them this season. As a junior, he has scored in double-figures in all but three games this season. He has three games with nine rebounds as well. Edmond is a complete player when on the floor and he does it from inside the arc on the offensive end. Edmond is not a three-point shooter but he is extremely effective on the inside.
