The Coaches Select and New Jersey Panthers Showcase was no different as there were some great individual performances. These big games took place in front of several college coaches who were impressed with what they saw. Here are the top stock risers from the Coaches Select and New Jersey Panthers Showcase.
Tahjay Moore, 6’8 C New Brunswick 2020
Moore dominated down low for the Zebras as he finished off with 22 points and 15 rebounds. The 6’8 senior attacked the basket hard and dunked almost everything around the basket. He was a force on the glass and used his length to block five shots on the day. Moore has been a key presence inside for the Zebras this season, but his performance against Toms River East was special.
Ahyan Brown-Miller, 5’9 PG New Brunswick 2020
If not for Moore’s dominant game down low, Brown-Miller would have been the story of the game. The 5’9 senior had a triple-double against Toms River East as he had 10 points, 11 assists and 10 steals. He gave the Toms River East guards fit and showcased his court vision and passing ability with several slick passes throughout the game. Brown-Miller’s ability to be a complete point guard on both ends of the floor is huge for New Brunswick’s success in 2019-20.
Richard Machado, 5’10 PG Saddle River Day 2023
Machado may only be a freshman, but he was the difference for the Rebels in their win over Immaculata. The freshman guard had a nose for the basket and was able to get by his defender with ease. He was also hard to box out as he grabbed a pair of offensive rebounds off missed free throws in the fourth quarter. Machado’s 16 points and nine rebounds were not career highs, but the freshman stepped up his game against the best opponent he’s faced this season.
Cam’Ron Summers, CG Bound Brook 2021
Sophomore guard Quadir Harrell may have named the game MVP, but Summers was big for the Crusaders all game long. The junior guard knocked down a pair of transition three-pointers in the first half and had 12 in the opening half. He was not just a shooter as he attacked the basket hard all game. Summers finished off with a game-high 16 points and should be a valuable contributor for a talented Bound Brook team.
Edward Turay, 6’0 SF Franklin 2020
The Warriors needed someone to step up when junior Anthony Milligan picked up his second foul in the first half. Turay answered the call as he ended up with a game-high 15 points. The senior small forward was aggressive attacking the basket and was a force on the offensive glass. Turay may not be the biggest small forward, but he proved that he can still get it done against bigger competition.
Mike Goodall, 6’0 PG Toms River East 2020
Goodall was unstoppable in the first half as he scorched the nets for 17 points. The 6’0 senior moved well off the ball and did not force shots in the halfcourt. He also showcased solid defense as he had six steals on the game. His 26 points were the most of any player at the Showcase, which solidified Goodall’s ability to score with anyone in the Shore Conference.
