Freedom Christian’s defense sets the tone
The Freedom Christian defense set the tone in the first half, holding Cape Henry Collegiate to 31.8 percent from the field and 16.7 percent from 3-point range and just 18 points to take a 29-18 lead in the early stages. They turned up the pressure on defense while sharing the basketball on the other end. They had eight assists on 11 made shots as a team in the first half. Freedom Christian won the contest 62-44.
Aymeric Toussaint excels in the frontcourt
Unsigned senior Aymeric Toussaint was impressive getting up and down the floor and making plays with the ball in his hands. The 6-foot-9 forward finished with 13 points (6-of-10 FG), five rebounds and three assists, making an impact in a variety of ways with his size and awareness. He’s a prospect college coaches will be clamoring for in the spring.
Alvarado runs the show on offense
2020 point guard Manrique Alvarado had a strong outing in the Chance Harman Classic dishing the ball and scoring it. He produced 11 points and 11 assists on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor in the starting lineup for Freedom Christian. He’s a crafty guard at 5-foot-11 that can operate getting to the rim and making plays for others off the dribble.
Doyle shows poise on the wing
2021 guard Jayden Doyle was another standout prospect with his ability to knock down the 3-pointer. Doyle knocked four of his eight 3-point attempts and finished the game with 14 points along with eight rebounds for Freedom Christian. He’s a guard that’s active on both ends and looks to make his presence known. He recently earned an offer from Howard University as well.
Christian Moore steps up for an injury-hampered rotation
With injuries to key players like Bryson Spell, 2021 guard Christian Moore had to fend for himself on offense and that he did, posting 32 points on 10-of-23 shooting from the field and 7-of-7 shooting from the free-throw stripe. Moore made five 3-pointers as well while making 10 of the 15 total field goals Cape Henry made in the contest. He’s a gritty guard to keep an eye on in the backcourt.
