For the first time since the 2012-13 season the JM Rockets are without a Hurt on the floor so they are currently going through an adjustment period. The Rockets have lost three of four games but they fell improvements could come soon.
“We have played a couple tough games and it’s still early in the season, but I think we are clicking defensively,” Lincoln told Prep Hoops.
“We aren’t where we need to be yet offensively, but that will come with time and work. Making up for Matt’s 35 points per game last year is tough and I’m trying my best to make up for that deficit along with Jacob Daing (a 6-foot-4 scoring wing).”
JM is still in search of that 1AAAA section title and with Lakeville North out of the section opportunities are open for several teams.
“As a team our goal is to win the section. I haven’t really thought of any goals individually. After sitting out all summer recovering from surgery, I just want to go out there play my best and work hard.”
Lincoln is also entertaining potential college basketball opportunities at the next level. At 6-foot-9 and developing, with a family history of college basketball, Lincoln has quality potential to be a solid college basketball player at the scholarship level. However, injuries cut short his chances of playing 17 and Under basketball last year. He is still hearing from some quality programs while others are just starting to learn about him.
“(Looking for) somewhere where I can contribute, get bigger and stronger, make a great impact to the organization, and get a good education,” Lincoln said.
Showing the most interest has been “Minnesota-Duluth and other NSIC schools and South Dakota State.” Lincoln has visited both SDSU and UMD so far.
“I have visited Duluth and SDSU. At Duluth the coaching staff is great and there is a lot of Minnesota players. At SDSU the facilities really stood out.”
Expect to hear more about Lincoln Meister real soon as he continues to develop as a player after an injury setback from late last year.
