Zach Martini is a 6’7 senior on his way to Princeton who has been a double-double machine for Gill St. Bernard’s. There is no better player for Mgbako to learn from. When watching him play, he has a little of Paul Mulcahy in him. Mulcahy was a four year standout for the Knights who is currently a freshman at Rutgers. Mulcahy was the complete player and that is what Mgbako has a chance to become.
Mgbako is not the passer that Mulcahy was but that could change overtime. Through two games, Mgbako is second on the Knights in scoring, behind Martini. He finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds over Marist earning his first double-double of the season. It will not be the last.
At 6’6, Mgbako is extremely advanced for his age. He is just 15 years old and has plenty of time to polish his skills. They are already strong at the moment. Mgbako has the ability to step out and shoot from midrange and further. Pair this with being a dominant force inside and he is ready for big things. Mgbako has one offer already from Bryant and that numbers will go up quickly, most likely by the end of the season. He is going to be a sought after prospect for four years.
Mgbako is already one of the top players on his team and in the Skyland Conference. Gill St. Bernard’s is going to compete once again for a state title on the heels of their big men. What makes their history so unique is that their players with size possess skills that make them multi-dimensional. Mgbako fits the bill perfectly.
