Bedford North Lawrence:
Brayton Bailey – 2020 PG/SG: One of the more underrated aspects of Brayton’s game is his ability to dish the ball to the right teammate and give them an opportunity to score. His ability to get to the rim is the best part of his game and he gets to the free-throw line often. I have actually noticed that his free-throw shooting has improved greatly this year so that makes his trip to the line much more efficient. Whether it is an open lane or splitting a double-team, Brayton is going to get to the basket 9 times out of 10. I have not seen much of his jumper yet this season so I will be curious to see if that has improved or not.
Ben Cosner – 6’3 2021 W/F: Cosner has been in kind of a funk offensively but was aggressive getting to the line early on during Friday’s contest versus Bloomington South. His defense was really good again as he had the task to guard Anthony Leal for most of the game. The reason his defense is so hard to go up against is because of his strength I believe. He is always one of the top athletes on the court in any contest and once his offense gets going, he will be able to help take his team to the next level.
Kooper Staley – 6’0 2021 SG: Staley had a relatively quiet night offensively against Bloomington South, which was odd as he is usually one of the top scores for Bedford at least. He contributed mostly on the defensive end as he grabbed a few rebounds and steals throughout. Staley’s smart decision making is what stands out to me besides his usually great perimeter shooting. He rarely makes any bad passes that leads to turnovers and knows what he needs to do to help his team out the best he can.
Jackson Miracle – 6’4 2021 PF: Miracle’s greatest strength is his length. He does a really good job with rebounding and makes it difficult for the opposing teams to score down low. Would like to see Miracle get a little bit stronger and work on catching passes on the offense. Other than those two critiques, Miracle is a lengthy stretch forward to keep an eye on.
Colten Leach – 6’1 2023 G/F: Like I have mentioned before, Leach is one of the more aggressive freshman I have seen play this year. He has got some grit to his game and is not afraid to make the big plays. He does a fairly good job getting to the basket as he had a really nice right-handed layup against Bloomington South. Once he gets a chance to show it, I will be interested in seeing what his jumper is made of.
Colton Staggs – 6’1 2023 PG: Staggs made the most out of his short varsity minutes on Friday. He had a real nice catch and shoot three right as soon as he came in. Staggs is a prospect that I think is going to be very good in a couple years. He may be a shorter guard but he has the ability to make the smart plays. I would love to see him intensify his game a little bit more and play a little less relaxed. As Staggs gets more experience at the varsity level, the better he is going to get.
Bloomington South:
Anthony Leal – 6’4 2020 Leal again had another great night against Bedford as he dropped 25 points on them. Did some really good things offensively and shot the ball really well behind the arc. Expect Leal to continue his great play as the season moves along.
Noah Jager – 5’9 2020 PG: Jager is a true floor general in every since of the phrase. He knows what is going to help his team win. He did some great things against Bedford like causing some turnovers, had a catch and shoot three, and made a couple of easy left-handed layups. Jager is in for a great senior season.
James Bomba – 6’5 2020 PF: Bomba causes a lot of trouble in the paint for his opponents because of his massive size and strength. He grabbed a lot boards against Bedford and had a few easy put-backs. James Bomba will be a massive asset for the Panthers this season.
Connor Hickman – 6’2 2021 SG: Hickman is a real nice, athletic SG prospect. He does most of his damage around the basket as he had a put-back and left handed post move against Bedford. He drives to the basket really well and has a nice floater to his game. Hickman is in for a breakout season and will be one of the key players for the Panthers.
Joseph Bomba – 6’4 2021 SF: Though not as big as his brother, Joseph does some really nice things on the court. The thing that really stands out to me his smooth three point shot. His length causes problems to defend his jumper which is a huge asset to his game. His length also helps him defend almost any position. Like his teammate Hickman, I expect Joseph to have breakout season and be a key player for the Panthers.
Paoli:
Brett Bosley – 6’5 2021 PF: Bosley is one of the more tough-minded 2021 prospects in his class by far. He is physical and demands the ball. On defense, he is always looking to block the shot against any player that gets in his way. His jumper is still off a bit but he should be able to fix that since he has a nice stroke. Bosley is an elite big man in the state.
Aron Busick – 6’1 2020 G: Busick plays with a really great motor when on the court. He seems to always be moving and most of the time gets to the right spot on offense. I like the way this kid plays and is a great teammate for this Paoil squad.
Hobie Bobbit – 6’1 2020 PG: There are not enough words to say how great of a passer Bobbit is. Whether it was feeding his teammates in the post, getting them an open look on offense, or finding them in transition, his passing is on the dot each and every time. When open he is also a fairly good shooter which is able to open up his game. Bobbit might be the best passer I have seen this season so far.
Parker Sullivan – 6’5 2020 F: When watching Paoli take on Lanesville the other night, Sullivan was one of the few that really impressed me throughout the contest. He has a very smooth jumper from mid-range and behind the arc with his ability to not only catch and shoot but pull-up as well. When driving to the basket he is tough about it and he also had a nice run down block in transition. Just add a little bit more muscle to this player and you have a really interesting prospect to keep an eye on the rest of this season. With his high elevation jumper, Sullivan will help himself standout among his peers.
Lanesville:
Conor Nolot – 6’1 2020 G: This prospect is really fun to watch and is a little under the radar I believe. He is one of the more explosive, quick guards I have seen and can shoot the ball very well. When going to the rim, Nolot does a great job of fooling the defender and catching him off guard, especially with his great head fake that he gives them. Nolot is a player that needs to be watched more.
Kameron Walter – 6’3 2023 C: This young prospect has got a real interested build on him for only being a freshman. He has a strong body and uses it to his advantage when he needs to. Walter rebounds very well and also is really good at rolling to the basket when given the chance. I am curious to see if a jump shot will be asserted to his game in the future.
