As a junior, Anderson knocked down 86 three-point shots. This included a game against Freehold where he finished with 33 points on 11 made three’s. Well, it looks like Anderson is going to pick up right where he left off last season. In this exhibition matchup against Southern, Middletown South was finding their sharp shooter early and often. Anderson finished with 20 points, 18 of which came on 6-9 shooting from three-point range.
Middletown South set a school-record with 17 three’s in last season’s win over Freehold. They finished 11-22 from deep against Southern. This is an experienced team with many returning players from last season. There could be more records shattered this season, especially from behind the arc led by Anderson. Middletown South is not just a shooting team. They showed great speed in this win on both sides of the ball. They are a team that likes to play fast and use their speed as an advantage. This is something that will be on display come the regular season.
After a 16-12 season, the Eagles are expected to be better in 2019. The Shore Conference was taken over in 2018 by the likes of Scottie Lewis and Bryan Antoine at Ranney. This season, it is more open. There is a real chance that Middletown South is a top-five team in the conference by the end. A combination of size, speed, and athleticism makes for a dangerous team. The Eagles possess all of those traits.
Anderson got the preseason started off right. When it comes time for the regular season, expect him to kick it up a notch.
