Westover HS Junior Guard D’Marco Dunn: Although we don’t want to sound like a broken record, we must say again that this young man is a very special prospect. He put together a big time performance in the 1st round with 26 points and showed all of the parts of his game during this matchup. Moving without the ball, knocking down shots, picking his spots, and doing just about everything you would want a SG D1 prospect to do. ECU was in the building to check him out and UNCG will be dropping in as well, expect a bunch of programs to follow suit.
Middle Creek HS Junior Forward Sam Perez: Any time you have a player that’s 6’7 with the skillset that he possess, then you have to be impressed. One of the more unselfish players every time he steps on the floor, you have to love his IQ and his gift for passing the ball. He would finish with 23 points on the night, showcasing his scoring ability to go along with his facilitating.
Cape Fear HS Freshman Guard Tremayne Parker: Still recovering from a wrist injury that he suffered last week, Parker showed other impressive areas of his game which included facilitating to teammates. His minutes were more limited of course but it’s impressive to see a freshman still lead his team in scoring without that being his main priority.
Westover HS Junior Guard Darius Jewell: He stepped up big time for the Wolverines in the second quarter, knocking down just about all five of treys in that period which helped to give Westover some breathing room. It doesn’t take much time for him to get his shot off and the energy he brings to the court is something that gets the entire team going.
Middle Creek HS Senior Wing Luke Sales: Solid showing for him throughout, he understands how to get to his spots and make some plays. He does a nice job of using his height to effect plays on both ends of the floor as well as moving without the ball to get proper spacing on the floor.
Westover HS Senior Center Marvin Barnes: This was one of his better performances this year, he came in and provided some solid rebounding and finishing in the paint for his squad. You won’t see him trying to do things outside of his comfort zone and could be a nice option for a small college program as a project guy, his height at 6’6-6’7 is one thing that you simply can’t teach.
EE Smith Senior Forward Jaylen Siermons: He’s still working his way back into things after an ankle injury but one attribute that can’t be questioned is how hard he plays the game. Constantly battling for rebounding and using his strength to outmuscle opposition, he was one of the bright spots for the Golden Bulls with 13 points.
