This matchup will be an experience for the next 4 years. The first game of what spectators and scouts alike will hope to be many ended in a 66-58 Frisco Memorial victory. Memorial is deep with underclassmen talent while Braswell will have a top 2023 talent of their own and a dazzling duo of sophomores. Strap on we’re going to look into several of the game’s top contributors.
Both teams play a balanced game but the opposing team leaders Shannon Lowery and MJ Leslie had standout performances.
Lowery is a physically imposing 6-5 guard. He’s built to be a switchable defender and thanks to his strength he’s a wall for opposing forwards. He’s nowhere near a finished product on offense but what he does as a playmaker and passer shine a light on what he could be in the right offense.
Braswell’s Leslie lit the court up from deep. He connected on 5 3s many coming in clutch situations. The deadeye shooter scored his points on the ball and off the ball all while running point. Leslie should be a hot commodity sharpshooting combo guard.
Sophomore Josh Thrower continues to impress in each of his performances. The 6-7 combo forward continues to be a mobile, athletic, energy guy. He’s raw but finishes through contact with ease. With all the tools Thrower has he could be the steal of the 2022 class.
2023’s Drew Steffe looks so comfortable on the floor against older competition. He’s displaying leadership skills and a polished offensive game. Steffe’s more of a scorer but is developing into a point guard for his team.
Sean Calloway is a piece of Texas’ vaunted 2022 class. Calloway finishes at the rim all game long. Paint touches came easy to him in his limited time of play.
Bradley Russell came up clutch all game long. The 2021 prospect made clutch plays down the stretch. He showed off his shooting touch from deep, made strong drives to the basket, and showed his takeover ability when teammates weren’t having productive nights.
