Nearly every school in the conference saw their top player(s) graduate¹ or transfer².
That is, except for one. Canton McKinley, the team who finished in last place a year ago, brings back a pair of potential All-State juniors in Kobe Johnson and Brent Walker. Both are game-changing talents individually. Combined, Johnson and Walker are one of the fiercest inside-out combinations in Ohio. After finishing a disappointing 3-and-8 against Federal League opponents last year, the Bulldogs are our choice to win the conference in 2020.
All-Conference
Kobe Johnson (2021) | 6-3 G | Canton McKinley
Johnson is the top returning player in the league. He fills a number of roles: go-to perimeter scorer, primary ball-handler, and versatile defender. There aren’t guys in the league who matchup with him either, so containing Johnson becomes a multiple-player effort for opponents.
Combines elusive ball-handling with sheer athleticism to get to the cup. Plays with pace. Finishes through contact. Sees the floor when he attacks. Overwhelming in transition. Defends multiple spots and provides a rebounding boost.
Garrison Keeslar (2020) | 6-4 SG | Green
The Walsh commit is a skilled scorer with size and increased responsibility for Green. No Kaleb Martin means more shots for Keeslar. He can stroke the heck out of the ball. Uses jab steps to create space off the dribble. Able to shoot over smaller opponents inside. Good passer.
Christian Parker (2020) | 6-5 PF | GlenOak
Parker is a very skilled face-up forward who also does the “little things.” Can score from the perimeter or use his size inside. Shoots it well for a forward. Parker also frees up teammates by setting meaningful screens. Defends in space. Plays hard.
Jagger Haynes (2020) | 6-6 PF | Massillon Perry
Haynes is a skilled and productive forward. Very active rebounder who can finish or kick-out to a shooter off the offensive glass (or just when he catches in the post). Plays with balance and is a dexterous athlete. Shows a scoring touch inside. Provides rim protection.
Brenton Walker (2021) | 6-6 C | Canton McKinley
Powerful athlete who is explosive off the floor. Walker’s athleticism and strength is uncontainable at the high school level. Controls the glass on both ends of the floor and protects the rim. Scores on put-backs and with power post moves.
