However, new faces will emerge, impacting how this season plays out. It should be an intriguing season in the OK Blue with a number of improved squads looking to make a name for themselves.
All-Conference First Team:
Mykel Bingham
6’7″ Forward
Catholic Central, 2020
Now in his senior season for Catholic Central, Mykel will look to prove he is one of the premier athletes in the area. Standing 6’7″ with a lengthy wingspan, Mykel has the frame and quickness to guard multiple positions on the court. If he can take his offensive game to the next level, expect Catholic Central to be one of the top teams in the area once again.
Devon Boyd
Catholic Central, 2020
Catholic Central’s defense of it’s OK Blue Conference Championship will rely heavily on the play of senior guard Devon Boyd. Devon has all the makings of a collegiate guard; he has a quick first step, he can shoot it from deep and in the mid-range, and he is an excellent passer. Devon recently received a scholarship offer from Northern Michigan University.
Ryan Corner
6’10” Forward
Allendale, 2020
Ryan is a lengthy big who uses his size to his advantage in and around the paint. He has shown a consistent soft touch with his shots in the paint and has shown continued development with his post moves as well. Defensively, he can alter any shot with his 6’10” frame. Ryan recently received a scholarship offer from Grand Valley State University this past summer.
Chanse Crittendon
6’5″ Wing
Comstock Park, 2020
Chanse is a smooth-shooting wing who also can take his defender off the dribble to find his shot. Returning as the leading scorer for Comstock Park, Chanse will be asked to facilitate the offense on a nightly basis. On the defensive end, Chanse can be called upon to guard in the backcourt as well as the post. Chanse recently received a scholarship offer from Albion College.
Bryce Nyboer
Allendale, 2020
6’4″ Wing
Bryce, along with classmate Ryan Corner, will team up in what they hope to be one of the better duos West Michigan has to offer. Standing at 6’4, 185 lbs, Bryce uses his body efficiently in the mid-range, converting high percentage shots at a consistent rate. Ryan also can knock down a shot from deep and can guard multiple positions on defense.
Second Team:
Ryan Grantham
6’3″ Wing
Catholic Central, 2021
Ryan enters his junior season expecting to make a big impact for the Cougars. Ryan is a smooth-shooting wing who operates well within the Catholic Central offense. He will be the beneficiary of plenty of open looks this season when the defense has to contend with his other talented teammates. Ryan’s growth on the defensive end will be something to watch as he has the length to guard multiple positions.
Lucas Lyyski
6’7″ Forward
Spring Lake, 2020
Lucas enters his senior season hoping to lead Spring Lake to new heights. Coming off a junior season that ended in dramatically in the District Final, Lucas has the framework and skill set to be a consistent threat on both sides of the ball for the Lakers. Already known for his shot-blocking ability, expect Lucas to expand his offensive arsenal this season.
Jace Williams
Catholic Central, 2021
Jace is a two-sport athlete who will one day play Division I football. In the meantime, Jace and his teammates have their sights set on another deep tournament run in March. Standing at 6’4″, Jace has the athleticism to defend positions 1 through 5 and he can also get up and go in transition on offense. Expect Jace to be a crucial X-factor for the Cougars this year.
Conner West
Sparta, 2020
Connor comes into the season as one of the key returning pieces for the Spartans. Connor can play both point guard and off the ball in Sparta’s offense, and will presumably be asked to guard both guard positions on defense. Expect Sparta to rely on Connor’s steady demeanor early and often this season.
Chase Wilson
Sparta, 2020
Chase returns for his senior season, hoping to lead Sparta to an improved conference record and deeper run in the playoffs. A season ago, Chase and teammate Conner West combined for 36 points in a heartbreaking 55-52 loss to Newaygo in the Districts. Chase can score in doses for the Spartans, whose team’s success will rely heavily on his play this season.
