Milwaukee School of Languages
Same schtick, different context.
MSL retains their top four scorers — Isaiah Hammond, Damion Woods, Khadim Dime and Elijah Cox — which, alone, builds anticipation. The oldest of the quartet, Hammond and Cox, will enter their junior year, while Woods and Dime become sophomores. Their youth is staggering, and it beckons them into the high-potential club.
Laconia
After tripping their way to a 9-13 record last season, Locina returns just about everyone (soon you’ll find that’s a widely-applicable theme on this list). Reed Gunnick, a proven recruit and even more established bucket-getter, will steer the ship this season. Behind him, Eli Leonard and Dawson Drews will step into roles as second-year frontcourt mainstays, while third-leading scorer Caden Wittchow looks to play sidekick for Gunnick as they take another crack at a winning record.
Racine Case
It doesn’t get more obvious than this.
Last year was no doubt a struggle. But, looking back, it may have doubled as an integration period, as last year’s hodgepodge of youth improved and meshed all at once. JaKobe Thompson dropped 47 in fall league. Amari Jedkins sprouted into a two-way doomsday of talent. Terryon Brumby looks to turn freshman flashes into recruiting-breadcrumbs. And those are just the headliners. Opening acts include Nick Fugiasco, Jay Jay Rankins and a handful of additional contributors.
Wisconsin Rapids
A Grant Flory, Dylan Lisitza and Nathan Krommenakker trio looks like a formidable front line. Rapids will return key pieces and add some via transfer, a collective talent carryover that will stack up with top division one teams come playoff time.
La Crosse Logan
This team loses their first and third best scorer, which should mean that placing them here is a risky take. But the return of Jacksun Hamilton could prove more impactful than expected. The forward plays with a relentless motor and scoring itch, as he averaged 11.5 points per game last year.
Cedarburg
Cedarburg brings back their core four. Drew Biber, in particular, will be a vital returnee. The elastic, multi-threat forward packages everything you want into a junior, and his expectations have climbed understandably high. Behind him is Ben Ebacher, a senior with an improving game blossoming within a college-level frame. Jake Leair and Nick Johnson may also become crucial pieces this season as Cedarburg pursues a leap in the Greater Metro conference.
Kenosha Bradford
Here’s another team that’ll use depth as stepping stones. TreVion Gordon is on a developmental tear, Da’Quantae Sawyer subtly prepared himself for an impressive season, and Max Glass, their leading scorer last year, returns after showing his three-point range at the World Hoops camp and Top 250 Expo.
