We have roughly 110 ranked players in the class of 2020 that we have gotten to watch and assess prior to this summer. But with a big summer where we made sure to get out to as many events as we could as well as finishing off the year we are adding to that list. We are a few more weeks away from the season and will be providing one more rankings update within that time. There are plenty of players that stood out and are being added to the list so without further ado, here are some shooting guards that have made a case and will now join the list.

Elijah Thatch – DSST Byers

Guard that did it all for Byers last season. He alongside Kyrie Thomas was a dynamic duo in the backcourt as he also put up double-digit scoring games. He started to wane as the season ended but looking at his season in a vacuum – he stood out. 16.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and three assists as well as steals a game is a sensational year. He will jump onto our rankings and while he will start at the bottom, he is now on our radar and hopefully it translates to more wins so that this Byers team can get in front of some spectators and show that they are a pretty solid bunch.

Joseph Padilla – Vanguard School

Padilla is a player that was overlooked as he has been on a Vanguard team that has had one of the most prolific scorers in CHSAA history at the point guard spot and also one of the capable scores in the state playing both on the wing and down low which has forced him to fit in. He has done an exceptional job with that and still was able to put up 13.6 points a game despite having to share touches. He will now be able to take over the reins in that offense as Robin with Dominique Clifford in the Batman role and he is poised for a huge jump this year. He deserves to not only make the list but push into close to the top-50 players in the class territory. He lights it up offensively and gets others involved and soon we will be able to see the mistakes we have made of not having him here sooner.

Luke Yates – Buena Vista

Yates is a bigger guard that has the ability to light it up for scoring as a point guard that gets others involved which made him have the ball in his hands as a playmaker that set others up but he will be best served off the ball. He put up 16.5 points a game last season and also 6.3 rebounds but what he has is a good feel for the game, plays under control and if he was able to be set up in different spots I feel would flourish as a combo-guard. He is a 3A player that deserves some recognition and while he will start at the bottom of the list there is room for improvement.

Taylor Kline – Arvada West

While he did not have the season that he wanted to have shooting the ball he remained aggressive and showed that he would not be discouraged from getting shots up. He can score in multiple ways and brings a ton of gravity his way. He can change things up when his shot is not falling and averaged nine points a game. He will have plenty to prove this upcoming season with a big chunk of offense missing so he should head to the bottom of the list with so much room to grow.

Isaac Jessup – Resurrection Christian

Jessup is a player who truly impressed this off season as he was one of the dominant forces on a Colorado Titans team that competed at a high level and even took down a big tournament. There are not many things that he isn’t capable of doing. He is a complete player that makes it easier for others around him. He defends at a high level, runs the offense, can shoot the ball and is also capable of going off for an insane scoring game as he did this summer when he put up 40 points. Him next to Reece Johnson this year is going to be a delight as his IQ and scoring display will be showcased all season long and have them as one of the dark-horse teams ready to put their bid in at winning it all.
