Cavaliers no match for the Spurs
In a pivotal matchup to close out the regular season, the Cavaliers (7-1) and Spurs (6-2) faced off and the Cavaliers didn’t disappoint with a 79-47 victory. 2023 Will Otto and 2021 Ben Hines carried the load for the backcourt with 20 points and 29 points, consecutively. Otto did well to distribute when needed, getting a number of assists to various teammates. Hines made five 3-pointers in the winning effort as they proved their dominance in the final game of the regular season. 2021 forward Will Felton still dominated the boards, but he cooled off on the scoring front with 12 points.
Pacers storm into the postseason strong
The 5-4 Pacers had quite the close to the regular season with a big win over the Warriors to solidify their spot in the postseason. They followed that victory up with a win over the Heat in the first round of the playoffs and are one win away from the finals. They defeated the Warriors 79-62 behind a strong performance from 2022 Trey Fields. The 6-foot-5 forward put up 22 points showing off his ability to get to the rim and finish in traffic. 2022 Chancellor Wolfe was right behind Fields with 13 points, while 2021 Grady Bizyak put up 16 points.
The trio has managed to find their chemistry at the right time as they posted a big playoff victory over the Heat in the first round of the playoffs. In their 125-79 victory over the Heat, Fields and Bizyak posted 30 points apiece while Fields put up 14 points.
Spurs bounce back in the playoffs
The Spurs got back to their winning ways with a first-round playoff victory over a tough Warriors squad 85-71. 2022 Julien King poured in 20 points and handled the playmaking duties well for his squad when things got tight. 2023 Tanner Mikulecky drained five 3-pointers in the victory and finished with 23 points for the Spurs as well.
They’ll face the Rockets in the semi-finals next week on course for a rematch with the Cavaliers who will face the Pacers next week on the other side of the bracket. The final week of the playoffs should be an exciting one. Keep a look out for the standouts from the final week and regular season awards.
