Time for our annual Fall series “Best in State”. In this we look each day at a different category and break down what players across the state are the best at that particular aspect of the game. Today we examine the Best in State: Transfers!

Brandon Weston (Morgan Park)

This transfer actually happened a year ago, but the state’s #3 2021 wasn’t cleared to play last year after his move over from Lake Forest Academy. Look for him to be a huge contributor for the Mustangs this year with his athleticism and perimeter scoring.

Jeremiah Williams (Simeon)

Williams is making the move over from St. Laurence to state power Simeon. This highly ranked wing is primed for a huge year in the spotlight. He can score from all three levels and is ready to make a name for himself statewide.

Reggie Strong (Orr)

Strong is an aggressive lefty point guard that has bounced around high schools throughout his career, but will finish it at Orr as a senior.

Joel Watts (Homewood Flossmoor)

Watts has been a mainstay at St. Rita during his career. He is making the move over to HF for his senior year where he will provide stability at the point guard position.

Christian Shumate (Bloom)

Shumate is going to make a state title contender in Bloom even more of a threat! Elite level athlete that at the high school level can play two through five on both ends of the floor.

Will Wolfe (Oswego East)

Wolfe is a top 20 senior prospect that has a versatile offensive game along with a feathery jump shot. Will team up with Sam Schultz to give Oswego East quite a 1-2 punch.

Louis Lesmond (Niles Notre Dame)

Lesmond is among the best wing prospects in the state’s junior class. Sharp shooter transferred over from Evanston after moving in from France a year ago.

Saiveon Williams (Curie)

This transfer from South Carolina is primed to make a name for himself with his athleticism, defense, and toughness for a balanced Curie squad.

Patrick Readye (East St. Louis)

East St. Louis got a boost adding Readye to Armond Williams on their frontline. Readye has always had potential and now it is time for him to shine.

Jaehshon Thomas (Whitney Young)

Thomas is the #2 point guard in the junior class. He is making a big jump from Aurora Christian to state powerhouse Whitney Young where he will play alongside DJ Steward and Tyler Beard.

AJ Casey (Tinley Park)

Casey is the best underclassmen prospect in the state. He made the most shocking transfer move of the summer going from Simeon to Tinley Park.

Ethyn Brown (Belleville East)

Brown played his first two years at Belleville Althoff and will finish his career out at Belleville East. The point guard runs his team and can score when needed.
