Below are the prospects who made the 3rd team from the Battle in Bullhead. This group is mixed with some upperclassmen and underclassmen who showed promise and skill.

Battle in Bullhead: 3rd Team

Alex Elam 6’1 PG 2021 Ironwood

Elam was living in the paint and had some of the toughest finishes of any of the prospects at the event. In addition to finishing around the rim at a high level, Elam showed an improved ability to shoot it from deep.

While he had many offensive highlights, he was even more productive on the defensive end of the floor. There is no question that Elam led the camp in charges taken. His help side defense resulted in four charges in one of the games and two charges in the Top 20 game.

[player_tooltip player_id="1033048" first="Xavier" last="Santacasa"] 5’8 PG 2022 Valley Vista

Santacasa is extremely skilled. He attacks well with both hands and shot it at a high level from deep. He has a good feel for the flow of a game and does not try to do too much to interrupt it. However, when he does make the decision to put the basketball on the floor to create, something good usually happens.

Daniel Martinez 6’4 SF 2020 Chino Valley

Martinez was one of the top shooters at the event. He let it fly off of the catch, off of the dribble, and off of screens. He understands how to use his body to create angles when he comes off of screens when allows him to get open shots.

Zach Neal 6’4 SF 2020 MALC

Neal is much improved from last year. Last year, he had a lot of success as an extremely athletic wing. This year, he had a better feel for the game. His decision making was much improved. Further, he looked more under control.

Defensively, Neal is lengthy and provides the same athleticism that we mentioned from last year. Further, he has grown and is longer. Between him, his brother, and [player_tooltip player_id="928565" first="Jacob" last="Leslie"]; MALC looks to be one of the top defensive teams in 1A.

[player_tooltip player_id="936910" first="Jordan" last="Kuac"] 6’4 PF 2023 Ironwood

Kuac is listed as a power forward. However, he played 1-5 this past weekend and was successful. He always plays extremely hard which will earn him plenty of opportunities. With that said, he is showing that he is more than just a work horse.

He has good length and an improved handle. Further, he finished well around the rim off of the dribble and dump offs. Even more impressive, he shot the basketball well from deep. If Kuac continues to develop at this rate, he has the potential to be a truly special prospect.
