In preparation for the upcoming season, we look at what wasn't in the cards last March. Transfers and summer bloomers managed to mix up rosters in NBA free agency fashion, and with graduation switching the narrative for more teams, we approach this season with many new-look programs.

Below Prep Hoops Wisconsin lists the new-look teams poised for a successful year.

Brown Deer:

Key Departures - Brooklyn Jagers, Jaylon Gentry

New Additions - Armani Jones

Brown Deer’s future was cloudy at best without Jagers and Gentry, as last year’s senior duo amassed roughly 40 points a night. But Jones, the former MAS guard, transferred this summer, reloading the backcourt with an electric volt of offense and raw talent.

Additionally, Mark Wade will take another step, as will Jeremiah Dotson, and as a trio they’ll cushion the loss of two prizefighters.

Sun Prairie:

Key Departures - Brock Voight, Rajai Williams

New Additions - Braylen Blue

Sun Prairie’s “new face” will be Colin Schaefer or Delaware Hale — or both. Still, Blue provides Sun Prairie with peace of mind for the next four years.

The freshman carries around a division one offer before ever suiting up in a high school game (for a division one program to have that foresight for a freshman is absurd, and also speaks to his skill). If he can produce even as a complementary piece this season, then Sun Prairie should feel well-suited for a run at State.

Union Grove:

Key Departures - Nate Koch, Luke Hansel

New Additions - Isaiah Hoyt

Isaiah Hoyt comes by way of transfer, but has the platform to take the reins of this program immediately. His jump shot is artwork, lacking hitches or wasted motion. And after averaging 11.4 points per game as a sophomore, he’s sure to capitalize as the number one option this season.

Nicolet:

Key Departures: Jalen Johnson, Jamari Sibley

New Additions: Donovan Sparks

Nicolet lost two potential pros this offseason. The fact that they'll enter the season with a core is impressive in itself.

Kobe Johnson and James Graham will become the primary offensive weapons as Nicolet looks to retain their prominence this season. Sparks adds some youthful input as well, as the sophomore starred on the JV squad last season and looks to mesh with a mostly brand-new varsity squad.

Milwaukee Madison:

Key Departures: Brandon Leach, Kyran Gaines

New Additions: Jeffery Brazziel

Jeffery Brazziel is the most prominent in-state transfer this offseason, bar none. As the best player in the 2022 class, the sophomore swingman possesses a unique balance of skill and size at his age — and, really, for a prospect in general. It's a consistent recipe for dominant outings, unsolicited praise and high-major potential.

Xavier:

Key Departures - Henry Egan, Nick Otto

New Additions - Gus Yalden

Despite losing their top two scorers last year, Xavier held enough talent to tread water in the Bay Conference. But with Yalden coming into the fold, they'll enter the season with a sense of direction, as his skillful playstyle and elite size is already coaxing scouts and drawing salutes from NBA athletes.

Still, he's only a freshman. Just wait until he steps foot on a high school floor.
