While they’ll have a young squad in 2019-20, the potential is there for them to make some noise this upcoming season. Here are some notes from their open gym on Wednesday evening.
2020s
The 2020 class for the Jordan High School Falcons is led by 6-foot-5 forward Ramses Dennis-Cooper. Dennis-Cooper has mightily improved his body in the weight room and is playing above the rim a lot easier. A.J. Luke had a productive day defending the basketball and finishing around the rim. He’s listed at just 5-foot-9 but plays a lot bigger than that with his ability to defend and get to the rim. He’s got sneaky bounce in his wheelhouse as well.
2021s
Isaiah Black is due for a strong junior season with his ability to get down the floor and make things happen. He’s a shifty ballhandler that had some tough finishes in the paint and showed off a nice mid-range game.
Elijah Davis is the son of UNC assistant coach Hubert Davis and it showed with his play. He was the first to the floor for loose balls, setting up teammates on screens for easy buckets and knocking down jumpers.
Stefan Killeya-Jones is expected to be a solid piece with his ability to shoot it from deep. He’ll need to show he can defend his position, but with his size and experience, that shouldn’t be an issue.
2022s
The Falcons have some underclassmen that could contribute to the varsity right away. 5-foot-10 Dawson Edwards is learning how to become a vocal leader and already has the tools to emerge as a solid prospect by senior year. He can already get to the rim with ease, now he just needs to learn to make his teammates better.
6-foot-3 wing Max Thornton is a lengthy prospect that gets after it on defense and has a solid floor game. He’s young but he showed flashes of his upside during their open gym session with his length and speed with the ball in his hands.
2023s
6-foot-2 guard R.J. Bridges is competing already on both ends. He’s about 6-foot-1 with a nice wingspan and crashes the glass relentlessly. Walker Woodall is a 6-foot guard with a high IQ for where to be on the floor. He moves well without the ball and finishes tough in traffic in the paint.
Two freshmen who weren’t in attendance due to football are forward Clash Peters and guard Amari Stafford-Odom. Both are expected to contribute to this group as well.
