As we prepare for another year, be on the lookout for the upcoming Top 250 Expos in your region. In the mean time, the staff will be hitting you with several preseason nuggets. Here is a brief look at five of the best rebounding guards you will find locally.
AFAMDI ACHUFUSI | 6’4 G | SIDWELL FRIENDS (DC) ’21
Part of the reason why Sidwell is such a good defensive team is because of how well they rebound as a unit. At 6-foot-4, Afamdi Achufusi not only has the ideal frame to be a good rebounder, but he’s shown the desire as well.
JAMES BERRY III | 6’4 G | BISHOP IRETON (VA) ’20
One thing that Berry prides himself on is being active on the boards. Ireton doesn’t have a ton of size in their front court, so he feels the need to help out in that department on a consistent basis.
JAYSHAUN FREEMAN | 6’1 G | KENT COUNTY (MD) ’20
Freeman put up locker-combo type stats during his uber-productive junior campaign including big time rebounding numbers. Expect more of the same from the unsigned senior as he is poised to continue producing at a high-level.
ISHMAEL LEGGETT | 6’3 G | ST. JOHN’S (DC) ’20
As we’ve seen numerous times in the past, Leggett is an absolute workhorse on both ends of the floor, and this includes the boards. If you don’t box him out, he will wreck your game plan with his unrelenting effort and ability to consistently rebound out of his area.
JAKAI ROBINSON | 6’4 G | NATIONAL CHRISTIAN (MD) ’21
Robinson is a high-flyer with a high motor and this certainly translates on the boards. He is a big time put-back threat who also does his due diligence in boxing out his man on the defensive end.
