I have to say this again, the Class Of 2022 is special in Central Ohio. When it’s all said and done, there will be a ton of players at the next level.
Just to show the depth the area brings, this lineup already futures some Division l offers, and many other looks.
This team would push it, as it is a mobile team that could defend as well. Only if we could watch them get out and run.
These all-star teams are just a fun way to bring together some talent and think “what if”. It isn’t necessarily about the top ranked players but more so the fit that they have together. Which, is the biggest difference between first and second team, putting the best fit together.
Second Team:
G Dior Conners (6’1” / Pickerington North): Big fan of the energy Conners brings to the court, as he can turn it up when he needs to. Gets to the hoop effortlessly. A player that can uses his length to defend the one or two. Conners would co-exist very well with his own teammate in this lineup. A player that can run an offense how it should be.
G Jerry Saunders (6’0” / Pickerington North): Saunders can play the one or the two, I like him at the two in this lineup with Conners leading it. Saunders also could take on ball handling responsibility with no problem, as he is pretty crafty. The sophomore is an above average shooter that can let it fly, and would be the primary shooter in this lineup. Also, Jerry can get in the lane and finish in a magnitude of ways.
WG Dylan Thompson (6’1” / Buckeye Valley): Thompson is the glue guy for Buckeye Valley, also one of the better sophomores in the area. Dylan plays defense, rebounds and plays the passing lane well on that end of the floor. The 2022 guard is strong, and uses it to get to basket. Capable shooter from deep, but even better in the mid-range. The Barons are a team to watch this season, as they will be much improved. Dylan Thompson will be right in the middle of things.
PF Troy Scowden (6’7” / Buckeye Valley): The second Baron on this list is one to watch for. Scowden broke onto the scene last season as a floor runner and inside presence. The big has grown an inch, has more of a face up game now and can stretch the floor a bit. Also, has the ability to play above the rim. Scowden is a solid rebounder towering over others. Continuing to add strength will be big for the BV athlete.
PF Brandon McLaughlin (6’7” / Heath): McLaughlin was impressive for NOVA when I watched him last season, and a 2022 we should be talking about more. Brandon is a four that moves well and is a strong rebounder. A natural four, but five in this lineup. The Heath hooper has floor stretching ability, and can also work off the bounce. A player I hope to see a couple more times this winter.
