He has good upper body strength as well as athleticism which allowed him to finish plays through contact and make plays above the rim. The fact that he didn’t settle for the jump shot as the day went is something that we were really impressed with overall, he will be one to keep an eye on over the next two seasons.
Mallard Creek 2021 Guard Bryce Funderburk: He’s an impressive ball handler and finisher that gets past defenders by using his quick first step and attacking at the proper angles. We saw him match up with all types of defensive pressure and it didn’t affect him too much as he seems to understand how to attack the defense in the proper way.
Lake Norman Charter 2021 Guard Oliver O’Brien: Hand down, man down, would be the best way to describe the way he can light it up in a hurry from downtown. He didn’t waste much time at all as he caught fire from deep in some of the first games of the event, he doesn’t over dribble or waste unnecessary movements when getting his shot off.
West Davidson HS 2021 Guard Zavier Measmer: Got after it on both ends of the floor, coming up with steals on the defensive end and being productive with the touches he got offensively. Has a smooth shooting form as he sets his feet and gets his shot off pretty quickly but probably his most impressive attribute was his IQ for the game. He made some good reads, found teammates for some easy buckets and showed that he knows how to play the game in the correct manner.
Chapel Hill HS 2021 Guard Jermaine Burnette Jr: One of the attributes that caught our attention about him early on was his athletic ability and how well he played in transition. It seemed as if the faster the tempo of the game was, the better he played, was solid on the defensive end of the floor which helped to get the squad into transition for buckets.
Butler HS 2021 Guard Zion Shirley: As the day went on he only got better and made more plays to help his team to put them in position to win. His speed is one attribute that truly helps him to be productive on the court as well as his energy as he plays with a high motor. One set of plays that really showed what he brings to the table were back to back steals and buckets after he picked up his opponent with full court defense during one of the afternoon session games.
