Many players have officially played their final game of club ball and are exploring potential options for college basketball. I recently caught up with one of the top uncommitted big men in the 2020 class, Kaleb Lichau. Kaleb has spent the last couple summers with Washington Supreme and most recently played on the top 17u team for Coach Carl Howell. Playing in the Under Amrour Association provided him with lots of exposure and he has the interest of multiple schools and one offer as well.
The 6’9 forward mentioned that he enjoys the recruiting process overall and he has not found it overly stressful. ” I think the recruiting process has been really fun and exciting. I enjoy learning about each school and what they have to offer.” The United States Merchant Marine Academy has offered Kaleb a full ride scholarship, but he is still open as of now. “Point Loma, Seattle Pacific, Cornell and Cal Poly have shown the most interest in me.” He has been on unofficial visits to Cal Poly and Point Loma (D2) and he plans to take more visits throughout the rest of the year. Other schools that have reached out include Princeton, Dartmouth, Denver, Furman, Army West Point, Eastern Washington, and Cal Baptist. Kaleb also mentioned that he has no timeline for making a decision. He is looking for the right fit academically and athletically.
At 6’9, Kaleb has good length and solid jumping ability to alter and block a lot of shots and he is pretty mobile as well. He weighs just 190 pounds, so adding some more muscle to his frame will be essential for the next level to play the forward or center position. Kaleb is one of the current headliners for the Prep Hoops Top 250 event being held on September 21st. He will have the opportunity to improve his ranking in Washington, as well as play in front of some college coaches attending the event. Be on the lookout for further updates on Kaleb’s recruitment!
