As we prepare for another season, be on the lookout for the upcoming Top 250 Expos in your region. In the mean time, the staff will be hitting you with several preseason nuggets. Here is an early look, perhaps too early, at five incoming freshman who could make an impact from day one at their respective schools.
AMANI HANSBERRY | 6’7 F | ST. JOHN’S (DC)
Based on what we saw throughout the summer, Hansberry should be in line for big minutes during his freshman campaign at St. John’s. His post game is advanced and he’s already rebounding at a high rate. Expect Hansberry to have a couple of monster games as he acclimates to WCAC play.
DESHAWN HARRIS-SMITH | 6’3 G | PAUL VI (VA)
Harris-Smith could play a key role for the Panthers, especially with Jeremy Roach coming back from a serious knee injury. He showed flashes of consistent production during the June Live Period, and if that is any indication he should fit right in from the jump.
KHALIL WILLIAMS | 6’2 G | POTOMAC SCHOOL (VA)
Williams is a dead-eye shooter who will be asked to stretch the floor from day one. His big time shooting ability should pair well with the interior dominance of Jamel Melvin.
BRYSON WILSON | 6’4 F | MARET (DC)
Wilson is a strong wing who plays with a high motor and rebounds relentlessly. This could come in handy as the Frogs get used to life after EJ Jarvis.
BEN WOODWARD | 6’4 G | GEORGETOWN PREP (MD)
Woodward is a big guard who can stretch the floor and rebound from his wing position. It remains to be seen just how big his role will be from day one, but he will likely figure into the rotation for Head Coach Howard Blue.
