He knew he was taking over a program with great basketball talent and commitment. At Starting Line Health and Fitness in Rochester Hills, the squad has been having 20+ guys to work outs on a consistent basis, and the guys seem to be enjoying the grind under their new head coach. The commitment of the guys this summer shows the kind of expectations they have for this upcoming season. Coach Thomas compliments the fact that his guys expectations are very high. Coach also stated “I’m glad they have big expectations, because if you ask me I never would of sold them short. We only have two guys with any real varsity experience, but the guys we have coming into place they are workers. I want them to feel expectations. I want them to know every time we are putting a uniform on we are trying to win.”
The team participated in summer leagues at Saginaw Valley State, Detroit Mercy, University of Michigan and Oakland University. Coach Thomas acknowledged many positives out of summer league. Two guys that are standing out this summer for Coach Thomas’s squad are 6’5 power forward Austin Ursuy (2020) and 6’5 combo guard Peyton Prieskorn (2020). Both of these young men are expected to be major contributors this season.
Austin Ursuy (Rochester Adams)
Rochester Adams Hoops Summer Standouts:
Austin Ursuy is a 6’5 power forward and can play center when needed. Austin has been a member of the varsity team since he was a freshmen. He has gained valuable experience over the years on varsity. Strengths of Austin’s game include being physical in the paint, providing both energy and toughness, and being a great leader. To improve his game for his senior season he is working a lot on his speed and athleticism. Austin has continued to work on his shooting as well as his ball handling. Austin says, “I am trying to become more of a perimeter player.”
Coach Thomas stated; “He’s an exceptional leader, and an exceptional kid, as far as him on the basketball court he is resilient. He has had knee injury after knee injury and he is still here working. Him just being here and the guys see how hard he works, it shows the young man and leader he is.” Austin will look to turn his latest setback into a major comeback in his last season in a Rochester Adams uniform.

Peyton Prieskorn (Rochester Adams)
Peyton Prieskorn is a 6’5 combo guard who also has been a member of the varsity since he was a freshmen. Peyton has also gained valuable experience being a senior now on the varsity squad. Strengths of Peyton’s game include his basketball IQ, playing with pace, and taking control of the game. Improving his strength and athleticism are two things he wants to improve on in order to get to the next level. “I am trying to win every game we can. It is my senior year, my last year, so I just want to leave it all out there.” Peyton will be one of the main ball handlers for the squad, and with his 6’5 frame that is a great tool to work with at any level.
Coach Thomas stated; “Peyton sold himself short, he is a phenomenal athlete and he is going to be our primary ball handler. He is a 6’5 guard who can post, hit the outside shot, and he is very locked in. I think with his growth this summer both as a player and a person, people are going to want to know who he is.”
