Averaging just over 11ppg as a freshmen, Malik looks to be even more of a force for his sophomore season. This summer he has put up 18 points or more in majority of the DC Summer league and Wayne State Summer League games. He is really coming into his own with improved strength, improved shooting and his top notch ball handling. He currently plays AAU for the Michigan Wildcats. The 6’3 combo guard took some time to answer some questions for prep hoops and is featured on this edition of Mid-Range Monday.

When did you start playing basketball?
Malik: I started playing basketball at the age of 4.
Why do you love to play the game of basketball?
Malik: Growing up my whole family played it, and I just feel in love with it and now I am trying to get to the next level.
What do you feel your strengths are on the basketball court:
Malik: I feel my strengths are getting to the basketball. My job is to score the ball and I am all about getting stops on defense.
What are some areas of your game you have been working on to improve this summer?
Malik: Working on my left hand and getting stronger.
How far do you wish to go with the game of basketball, and what is your plan to get there?
Malik: I want to ultimately play in the NBA. In order to get there I need to stay in school and get good grades. Keep working on my game and stay focused.
What are college coaches at any level going to get in a player like you?
Malik: Effort, heart, efficiency and leadership
What are some team goals for the upcoming season?
Malik: Win, compete and keep growing together as a team.
Favorite basketball memory to date?
Malik: When I dunked for the first time in a game.
Favorite Player and why?
Malik: Lebron James because he is a leader and hes one of the better players in the game today. Knowing where he comes from and how to stay focused and now has turned himself into one of the greats.
