The Prep Hoops Circuit Grind Region came to a close this past weekend. The Circuit provided a great platform for prospects on both shoe and independent grassroots teams. Here are five standouts from Greater Houston.

Christopher Harris Jr 5’10 PG • 2020 • Fort Bend Hightower HS [Houston Raptors - Benjamin]

Chris has seemed to get back into his grove. He is a point with a muscular frame. Finishes around the rim with inside hand layups. Plays well without the ball in his hands. Was pesky on the defensive end of the floor which led to multiple turnovers. Plays with a great motor from start to finish. Vocal on the floor and was in all the right places in the game yesterday. Finished with 13 points and 3 steals.

Jordan Ivy-Curry 6’1 PG • 2020 • LaMarque HS [Houston Raptors - Benjamin]

Was in full beast mode on the court. He had some big-time put-back dunks in the game. He scored the ball from all three levels on the floor by creating for himself. He tends to throw a ton of no-look passes. Has active quick hands and great timing defensively when he’s on the ball. Plays with an edge and has a big-time motor.

DJ Stewart 5’10 PG • 2020 • Fort Bend Bush HS [Houston Raptors - Benjamin]

Was hands down the best floor General of the entire Grind Region. Is arguably top 3 on-ball defender as well. He has a super high motor and gives 110% on both sides of the ball. His IQ is second to none. A pass-first, speedy point that can get anywhere he wants on the floor. Great in the pick-n-roll setting. Tried to put a defender in the rim with a nasty dunk attempt where he cocked the ball back. He is a point that has 0 offers at this time and will be a great addition wherever he lands.

Jacoby Brown 6’2 G • 2020 • Alvin Shadow Creek HS [D1 Houston]

Has a good handle on the ball. Was able to get where we wanted on the floor at times. Had a big weekend which got himself on the radar with some D2 programs. He can play the one or two. Got his teammates involved in every game. His high for the tourney was a 31 point outburst. Has the GPA and the Test Scores to play at any level.

Kingsley Ijeoma Jr 6’7 PF • 2020 • Alief Hastings HS [Texas Takeover Elite - Ned]

Has been playing really well all Spring/Summer. His game has truly grown as far as skill and IQ. He will finish you in the rim and runs the floor like a deer. Has good strength and secures the rebounds. He is also a shot-blocker and alters his opponent's shots. A long and athletic prospect who went to Kansas and left with an NAIA-D1 offer. Definitely a prospect to keep on the radar over his senior year of High School.
