Lets take a look at the power rankings from week five’s games:
1. EBA (5-0)
EBA earned a huge win over the Spartans last week as they were led by 2020 point guard John Godinez. Godinez finished with 21 points and seven rebounds. He was key as 2020 forward Jordan Strickland found himself in foul trouble early.
2. Spartans (3-2)
The Spartans dropped their last two games. One loss came as their younger team filled in while their original team played in a tournament down in North Carolina. In their loss last week, the 2021 duo of Marlon Lewis and Alan Brown finished with 17 points each.
3. Pointers (3-2)
The Pointers picked up a nice win against the Bluebirds last week. 2021 forward Ramon Villanueva led the way with 13 points and nine rebounds. It seems like whenever Villanueva comes to games, the pointers become an extremely tough team with his ability to make an impact in a variety of ways.
4. Wolfpack (3-2)
The Wolfpack have quietly won three-straight games. This past week, 2021 guard Walter Carr recorded 14 points. He converted on three three’s and did a nice job of getting to the free-throw line, where his other five points came from. As a team, the Wolfpack have been gelling and seem to be executing effectively on offense.
5. Bluebirds (2-3)
Despite losing their last two games, the Bluebirds remain in the top five. One of their losses came as their most consistent player, 2020 Deamony Alves, did not play. They’ll have to right the ship quickly before the playoffs with a couple other teams that started at the bottom are beginning to find their groove. In their loss last week, 2022 guard Devin Adams finished with 11 points, nine of which came off of three’s.
6. Bayhawks (2-3)
The Bayhawks earned a commanding 58-37 win over the Mavs last week and were led by 2020 guard Donny Robinson with 19 points and two rebounds. Robinson has shown ability to push the ball in transition and knife through the defense when in the half court. He has also been a decent shooter from the outside when he has time to set his feet.
7. Cobras (2-3)
The Cobras struggled last week to score against the Rams consistent pressure. RJ Hinton was aggressive in getting to the free-throw line. Four of his six points in the contest came from the charity stripe.
8. Rams (2-3)
2021 Jeramiah Gaines played a vital role in the Rams second-straight wine as he finished with 19 point and nine rebounds. Gaines has been a consistent leader both in stats and intangibles for an extremely young Rams team. They’re starting to form an identity for themselves as a hard-nosed opponent who plays uptempo.
9. Falcons (1-4)
The Falcons have a very strong duo in 2021 Malik Scipio and 2023 Taylor Hickey, but until others begin to step up and help, they may find it hard to earn wins. Scipio led the offensive attack once again with 17 points and doing so by scoring at all three levels efficiently. The Mt. Carmel transfer has shows consistent productivity and will be one to watch in the county when it comes to individual statistics.
10. Mavs (1-4)
The Mavs have struggled to put together an entire game when it comes to effort and making good decisions. They’ll go through spurts where they look like they’ve figured it out, but will respond with three or four bad plays in a row to help the other team gain momentum and eventually, the win. 2021 guard Noah Oliver has been the consistent scoring leader and did so once again this week by recording 14 points.
