17U: East Coast United brings the energy
East Coast United, a team hailing from Florida, took home the 17U gold title behind stellar performances from 2020s Redrick Hill, Kevin Chandler and Devare Parks. They went 4-0 on the weekend with a big victory over Team United EYBL in the semifinals to get to the title game.
The trio combined for 50 points as they defeated Flight 22’s UA Rise squad 79-64 in the championship. Hill and Chandler took home co-MVP honors as Chandler led the way with 24 points and Hill finished with 16 points on five made 3-pointers from the floor. Parks had 10 points and did a masterful job getting the ball to his playmakers.
17U: Some big-time scorers were on full display
2020s Jordan Jones, Shakeem White and Shaquielle White put up big numbers in a rout of Team Hicks. On Day 1, they put up over 100 points, winning 117-66 in one of the night’s final games. Jones and Shaquielle put up 28 points apiece and made four 3-pointers each while Shakeem put up 23 points on seven made 3-pointers.
Two other big-time scorers were 2020s Ricky Council IV and Jordan McNeill. Council and McNeill finished first and second consecutively in total points in the division with 102 and 95 points. Council asserted himself as one of the premier slashers in the class with a number of big dunks. McNeill finished with a bang as well and has an opportunity to emerge as one of the top guard prospects in the class.
Team United EYBL guard Josh Massey still had a big weekend with 20.5 points per game despite the final results. Massey continued to showed he should still emerge as a sleeper in the 2020 class with his ability to attack the basket.
16U: FBCG Disciples end the tournament on a buzzer-beater
The FBCG Disciples traveled al the way from DC/Maryland/Virginia area and were part of the BigShots Myrtle Beach Finale 17U gold title game and they went out on a high note.
On one end, 6-foot-9 big man Steve Doar got a game-saving block. The block turned into a fastbreak opportunity for Car’Ron Brown on the other end. Brown drove the length of the floor and nailed a floater in the paint as the buzzer sounded
6-foot-4 Eric Peeler took home MVP honors after putting up 13 points. He had a number of blocks and big dunks in the game that kept his FBCG Disciples in the game.
15U: E.A. Prep stole the show & Gold title
E.A. Prep put on a show on their way to grabbing the Gold title in the 15U division. It took a buzzer-beater from 2022 William Jenkins to get to the championship. He put the final dagger in against Team United EYBL to give his a squad a 55-52 victory as both teams battled back and forth.
In the title game, 2022 Jaquava Propst took home MVP honors with 19 points in a 74-60 over Flight 22 Premier. He also put up 24 points in their semifinal victory over Team United. E.A. Prep was another squad that went undefeated in the BigShots Myrtle Beach Finale, finishing 4-0 on the weekend.
