College coaches and scouts were also in attendance for the talent in the event for the only July live period for the AAU season. The Adidas Summer Championships bought together a great event before the Adidas Finale later this week in California.
The state of Georgia put themselves on the map for sure with both the 17U and 16U Atlanta Celtics team winning it all in their division. Both age groups went an overall 8-0 throughout the weekend to capture their titles. The 16U division was led by top ranked 2021 F Jabari Smith Jr., who had himself one hell of a game in the title game. Jabari finished with 23 points, leading his squad to comeback victory over New World (DC). 2021 guards Danny Stubbs and Myles Rice were also key contributors.
The 17U division Atlanta Celtics were led by their dynamic guard tandem of 2020 PG Deivon Smith, 2020 G Caleb Murphy, and Xavier commit 2020 PG Dwon Odom. Rising senior Dwon Odom led the team with 17.4 points per game while picking 2.3 steals per game. The Celtics are now an overall 20-3 going into the Adidas Finale later this week in California. Both the 17U and 16U squads will have good momentum going into the next tournament.
