Prospect Update: Ryan Blum (2021)
Glenwood wing Ryan Blum is only halfway through his high school career, but has already accomplished so much.
The 6-foot-3 wing was key in helping Glenwood win a state title in 2018 when he was a freshman. And this spring, he’s been playing with and against some of the best players in the Midwest on Team Factory 16u.
Blum has been working to cultivate his skills as both a shooter and playmaker while playing with the Omaha, Nebraska-based program.
“The biggest improvement in my game would be being able to get downhill and finish through contact and just making the 3-ball consistently now, with hands in my face. Also being able to set up my teammates for success,” said Blum.
With Glenwood last season, Blum averaged 13.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game for the 14-7 Rams. Next season, he’ll be looking to ramp up his game defensively.
“Last year, we started out pretty good and through the season we fell off a little at the end. Personally, I thought I had an alright year,” said Blum. “This upcoming year will be a lot different, we got some guys coming up from JV that will be a big help. I’ll be looking to play great defense, that will be my focus coming into next year.”
In the meantime, he’ll be spending his June staying busy with Glenwood at team camps, then it’ll back to it with a Team Factory squad that’s seen a ton of success this offseason already.
“I’m having great fun there playing with those (Team Factory) guys, they’re great players and even better guys,” said Blum. “We started out 2-2 at our first tournament and haven’t lost a game since.”
Recruitment: “Recruiting-wise, I just got done with a (elite) camp at Wayne State and talked to them a lot and played with their guys today,” said Blum.
“I’m looking forward to just getting my name out there this summer, and putting up some numbers. And in July, I’m just looking to win, and just help get our brand and our teammates’ names out there in front of college coaches.”
