Now a few days past the Ohio State camp, I wanted to release my other standouts as I was going through my notes, that I was able to see.
Let’s get to it:
• Tyrese Hughey (6’6” / PF 2021 / Thomas Worthington): TW landed a big time transfer in Tyrese, that will have an immediate impact. Hughey moves well at both ends of the court. Finishing strong at the rim, contact or not. Tyrese uses a big frame to be a tree inside, also grabbing tough boards. The loss of Ben Wight should be minimal now, at a production standpoint. As Hughey continues working on his shot, he will trend forward a stretch four, a dangerous one at that.
• Aaron Davis (6’0” / G 2021 / Woodward): Davis is becoming more of a two-way threat every time I get to watch him. Viewing him a couple times in the spring had me knowing what to expect with Davis. Playing with McMillan, Davis is another ball handler that showed burst. Able to lead the the transition break when given the opportunity. Quick moving player on defense always working. Doing a lot of his damage at the rack, where Davis gets to with ease.
• Jalen Sullinger (5’9” / G 2021 / Thomas Worthington): Jalen Sullinger is next up in the bloodline. Sullinger coming off of an impressive sophomore year, is going to keep trending upward. Holding a Kent State offer already, Sullinger is one of the best scoring guards in the area. When I viewed him at the Osu camp, Sullinger displayed some three-level scoring ability. The ability to create space off the bounce is a plus, to go with the knockdown shooting ability. Sullinger is going to be a hand full as he continues to grow.
• Bilal Sow (6’5” / F 2020 / Canal Winchester): I believe that Sow can be one of the most impactful players this winter in the area. With a long frame, Sow showed ability to deflect passes and make it tough on scorers. I love the ability Sow has to stretch the floor, and knockdown shots. The inside-out game is a really tough one to guard at the HS level, and that’s what Sow plays.
• Derrick Hardin (6’2” / G 2020 / Worthington Christian): I’ve been a fan of Hardin’s game since first watching him play. Playing with DJ Moore, Hardin gets plenty of high quality looks. Improving his off the bounce game, the senior is trending to a three-level scorer. Hardin has a knockdown shot, that you can’t leave open. But, the ability to get to the basket is also there. Just a bit over six foot, I like the ability to absorb contact that Hardin has shown. Won’t be surprised to see Hardin hit plenty of transition three’s from the corner this winter.
