So over the next two days we will take the time to share with you all some of the standout teams and players that we saw at the event!
DSJ Elite 8th Grade Team took home the championship for their division and was one of the more impressive younger groups that we saw due to the intensity that they brought on both ends of the floor. They moved the ball well on the offensive end, and played very good defense which forced teams into turnovers and helped them get the championship win.
Fayetteville Rockets 2021 Guard Demetrius Polk Jr: Slowly but surely he is coming into his own as a player and is one to keep a close eye on over the next few years. His ability to score the ball was on full display all tournament long, including a 40+ point performance that would help lead his squad to the 10thgrade championship.
DSJ Elite 2021 Guard Kelton Battle: The work he has been putting in off the court is showing on the court as you can see not only see his physique changing but his maturity as well. You won’t see him get too high or too low with anything that’s going on, he embraces contact well and doesn’t allow pressure to speed him up.
Fayetteville Flash 2023 Forward Moses McDowell: He continues to improve and is showing that he knows how to use the size he has to make a nice impact on the court. Playing within his role, he blocks shots and rebounds at a very high rate as well as finishing plays inside when the opportunity presents itself.
Team Infinite 2021 Guard Keiontae Saunders: Scored the ball at a very high rate for his squad, including a 19 point performance in a pool play game. He can score off the catch or off the bounce, using his speed to get by defenders or pulling up for quick jump shots.
Fayetteville Spartans 2022 Kenneth Jones: Each time that we have got the chance to see this team play, they’ve had a different player step up and show out. Well on this occasion Kenneth was the player to step up and make plays for his team, he knocked down the three point shot at a very high level and didn’t need much room to get his shot off. Keep an eye on him over the next few years as he has the potential to be a nice player and prospect.
DSJ Elite 2022 Forward RJ McDonald: Good upside in his game and will just need to continue to be more consistent with his play throughout. However he shows some flashes of how good he can be, scoring at different levels and showing athletic ability on both ends of the floor.
