July is coming quickly, crazy isn’t it?

July grassroots session should be a good time, per usual. Gearing up for the July session, I believe Hidden Gems Black 17U will do some damage.

Knocking off some good teams in the spring, HGB is a solid team and better program.

Schedule:

• HG Invitational = July 6-7th

* AAU Super Showcase = July 11-15th

* All-In Hoopfest = July 19-21st

• GRBA Nationals = July 26-28th

Player Breakdown:

• Kaveon Ross - 6'5/F Walnut Ridge - Ross has made strides in the last few months, helping him pick up a couple offers. At six-foot-five Ross moves fluidly and can work off the post well. I like Ross’s ability to slash and finish tough at the rim. Expanding his touch further and further, Ross has the capability to space it a bit as well. A lob threat on the fast break, where the forward has some explosiveness.

• Cali Davis - 6'0/G Africentric - Davis is a legit two way guard, who plays hard all the time. Active hands on defense always stick out when watching Cali. Often, resulting in a fast break bucket. The Africentric guard can score it from multiple levels, as he creates space well to get open shots, notably the stepback. Davis gets to his spots with poise, moves the ball and doesn’t stay stagnant. A two-way guard that can definitely play at the next level.

• Nakimba Mullins - 6'5/PF Worthington Christian - I am a big fan of Nakimba’s game. The forward is solid in the post, where he can finish with a virtue of moves. A stretch four at times, Mullins can knockdown the outside shot to create spacing. A longer frame, Mullins can defend a couple different positions. The next year should be a big period for the Warrior.

• Julian Binford - 5'9/PG Eastmoor - If you’re looking at a point under six foot, you won’t find many in the area better then Binford. Playing with grit, Binford has a next level handle to the game. Always keeping the defense on their heels. The Eastmoor guard creates space well, and finishes tough at the rack. Binford gets up the court in the hurry, and doesn’t shy away from contact, which you really like to see.

• Trevell Adams - 5'10/PG South - Trevell Adams has to be one of the most improved players in the area. Adams is quick, athletic and can handle the ball well. A poised driver to the basket, that can finish acrobatically through contact. Adams creates space off the bounce, and a hound on defense. Don’t be surprised to see the senior pin a layup to the backboard.

Others To Note:

* Caleb Terry - 6'10/C Alexander

* Trevon Ellis - 6'3/G Dayton Stivers

• Makhale Massey - 6'4/G Northland(2021)

• Sam Kumler 6'2/G Phillips Academy(2021)

Huston Harrah - 6'4/SF Fairfield Union
