We’d also like to give a shoutout to the Alabama Fusion for qualifying for the Peach Jam. Coaches and parents should be very proud of the performances from the 2020 prospects across the state.
Colby Jones (Alabama Fusion)- This kid was huge for the Fusion over the weekend. Jones showed off the complete package. He scored efficiently, he made plays, and he hit the glass very hard. Jones is shooting just under 54% in EYBL play. He’s known for his shooting, but Jones’ rebounding and slashing ability have really stood out. Over the weekend, the 6’5 guard averaged 17-10-3 per game.
Giancarlo Valdez (Pro One Select)- Valdez has been on a tear! This kid arguably had the best weekend. He showed off his ability to score from all 3 levels, make plays off the bounce, and was an impact on both ends. Valdez has been one of the fastest risers in this class, and we don’t think he’s done yet. Over the weekend, the 6’3 guard averaged 24 points and 6 assists per game.
Mark Sears (Alabama Fusion)- Sears put together another solid weekend for the Fusion. He continued to rebound well, attack his defender, and make plays for others. What stood out for Sears this weekend was his ability to knock down 3s. The 6’0 point guard shot 40% from 3 and averaged 15-4-4 over 5 games. Sears has separated himself as the best 2020 point guard in the class.
Sam Youngblood (Hawks Elite)- If you mention most improved in the 2020 class, Youngblood has to be in the conversation. The 6’2 combo guard continued to score the ball at all 3 levels and show off his improved playmaking. Youngblood also took in an unofficial visit to Wofford this weekend. This kid averaged 15-6-4 over 4 games and was very efficient with the ball.
Kam Woods (Nightrydas Elite)- Woods put together his most complete weekend to date. He finally showed off his ability to heat up in a hurry. Woods had a 2 game stretch that was very important for Nightrydas Elite as the qualified for Peach Jam. Over that stretch Woods averaged 20 points, 5 rebounds, and shot 50% from the field. Thats the type of performances people expect from Kam.
