College Commitment: Chase McClain (2019 Mountain View HS)
Another senior has made his decision. Chase McClain was looking around at a number of different places this spring and things really got into gear after he played in the Northwest Shootout Oregon-Washington game. The steady 6-foot-2, 185-pound guard from Mountain View High School made some trips out of state but ultimately decided to stay a little closer to home to play his college basketball.
"I've decided to commit to Linfield," McClain said. "I'm really excited. I really like the coaches and the coaching style that they have. The guys are really nice and the campus is really cool. They have a family-type tradition there and it was like a warm welcome."
McClain also considered Carroll College and Central Washington in the process. Both programs had offered scholarships and he visited both campuses, but the fit just wasn't quite right. Linfield offered what he wanted both on and off the court, and he described how things are looking for him on the basketball floor.
"They're trying to revolve their whole system around me and they're trying to expand out their offense and have guys drive in and score a lot but also kick out and try to be that floor general," McClain said. "I want to get bigger and stronger to get ready for college and putting in as much work as I can with shots, dribbling, conditioning - anything that I can that can better me for my future for college and going beyond that."
McClain had a solid senior campaign, earning First Team All-Mountain Valley League honors and he tallied 13 points and five rebounds in the Northwest Shootout. He currently ranks as the #13 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2019 rankings.
