The 6-foot-6-inch prospect from Duncanville High School showcased why he is among the most elite recruits in the 17U bracket. He was a physical, dominating rebounder who used his bounce to elevate above potential contenders to win the battle of the boards and displayed his athleticism in the paint in many ways. For example, Jones finished one big dunk off of the miss that sent shockwaves throughout the gym. Later in the afternoon, he finished a reverse in transition that nearly doubled the volume in the gym compared to its predecessor.
Abraham Shorter 2020 Dallas Showtyme Elite point guard
- Rebounding guard
- Playmaker
- Shooter
Though he brought the ball up the floor for Showtyme, you would be shorting the Waxahachie standout to limit Abraham Shorter’s role to that of floor general. His handles were great and his finishing moves were elite. Additionally, he rebounded the ball exceptionally well. His shot-making was elite as he finished the day with five 3-pointers.
Dwaylen Russell 2020 Texas Pride Elite wing
- Stretch
- Rim-protector
Dwaylen Russell made his presence known on the defensive side of the ball in the matchup, where he successfully defended the paint and got blocks. Offensively, he was more of a swingman, thanks to his speed, which aided him in cutting from the wing to make plays.
Yomi Obafemi 2020 Texas Pride Elite forward
- Rim-protector
- Rebounder
- Inside scorer
- Playmaker
Yomi was the go-to guy in the paint for Texas Pride Elite as his 6-foot-8-frame was impassible and nearly unbeatable in the rebounding game. He also had the athleticism, physicality and tenacity on his side to impose his will on opposing players in every aspect of the game. His post iQ was impressive as well. He was able to help the playmaking process for his teammates by making cuts and setting screens.
Dexter Roper 2020 Texas Pride Elite point guard
- Scoring guard
- Floor general
- Ball-handler
Dexter Roper made his name as a floor-leading, scoring guard who could handle the ball as well as anybody on Sunday. He typically brought the ball up the floor for Texas Pride Elite and was great at making plays in motion. Once he felt challenged, however, he could make defenders look juvenile with his handle as he broke even the most talented perimeter defenders he played against.
