Whisman is a tough and physical player in the paint and will be a great fit at CUAA. We recently caught up with him to talk about his signing, moving on to college basketball, and more.
Question:
You recently committed to Concordia University – Ann Arbor. How does it feel?
Tyler Whisman:
I am grateful to have the opportunity to play at the next level for Coach Yahn. Concordia is a very good school with a strong basketball program.
Question:
What part of college basketball are you most excited about?
Tyler Whisman:
I’m most excited about the higher level of competition, and the faster pace of the game.
Question:
Is there anything that makes you nervous about making the jump to the next level?
Tyler Whisman:
I’m not nervous, just excited. I have worked hard to achieve this goal and am looking forward to any challenges ahead.
Question:
What was it that made CUAA the right place for you?
Tyler Whisman:
CUAA had everything I was looking for in academics with great programs in Exercise Science and Athletic Training; as well as a hard working basketball team.
Question:
What part of your game do you feel will transfer to college basketball the easiest?
Tyler Whisman:
I am strong down low, and have good touch around the rim. I have the work ethic and dedication to play at the college level. I am coachable and excited to learn more.
Question:
How will you be preparing for next season over the spring and summer?
Tyler Whisman:
I will continue to be in the gym and weight room. I’ll be going to team workouts and skills training throughout the off season, also working on getting quicker and more explosive.
Question:
What was your greatest moment in high school basketball?
Tyler Whisman:
Winning the Conference and District Championships, and making it to Regional Finals this year.
Question:
Who was your favorite teacher in high school?
Tyler Whisman:
I have two, Mrs. Shore and Miss Pack. They are both very passionate about teaching and they are always willing to help.
