The three-star guard is coming off a close playoff victory vs. a well-coached Cedar Park squad. He scored a game-high 27 points with Michigan State in attendance. It is also worth noting that he dropped 45 points against Bryan Rudder the game prior.
“Our mindset going into every game has been that we are only guaranteed 32 minutes for the rest of our season and we play every minute like it is our last,” Shead says. “I feel like I have been doing what is needed and big shots are needed, I’ve been there so I feel very confident.” A top ten prospect in the 2020 class, Shead has received offers from Colorado State, Drexel, Houston, SMU, Texas A&M, Texas State, and UT-Arlington. While Michigan State (mentioned earlier), North Texas, Rice, and Texas Tech have also been interested in his services.
IN JAMAL’S WORDS
Colorado State: “Coach Medved and Coach Farokhmanesh are amazing coaches. I liked the Colorado state environment. It is a beautiful place too!”
Drexel: “I like the coaching staff at Drexel. They have a good thing going and they are well respected. It is a beautiful school and I enjoyed the trip.”
Texas A&M: “It was great experience and those guys in College Station are a big family. Including the twelfth man, it’s definitely real!”
FINAL THOUGHTS
This summer, Shead is taking the ultimate challenge by leaving the Adidas Silver Circuit to play with Nike Drive Nation on the EYBL Circuit. When asked about his decision, Shead mentioned, “I’m playing with the best group of guys so it should be very fun! The group we got is something special!”
