These players, some freshman and some upper class, stood out at Sunday’s event!
First Evaluations:
• Mehki Jarrett (5’8” / G 2020 / Mifflin): Mekhi Jarrett showed the ability to knock down the jumper, Sunday. The junior changed speeds when needed, and has a good handle on the game. In transition, Jarrett does a good job of changing trajectory and movement, to keep the defender off balance. Definitely a player I am looking forward to watching again.
• Brendan Raymond (5’9” / G 2022 / Gahanna-Lincoln): Brendan Raymond does a good job on defense, using quick hands to create steals. The freshman handles the ball well, in the haldcourt and transition. Raymond moves the ball around the perimeter well also. Would like to see more outside shooting from the guard, to get a better feel for his game.
• CJ Temple (5’10” / G 2022 / Marion Pleasant): CJ Temple was an impressive newcomer on Sunday, showing some ability from the guard position to score. Temple plays well downhill, able to finish at the rack with either hand. Also, able to finish through traffic. Would like to see Temple play more on ball.
• Caleb Terry (6’10” / C 2020 / Alexander): In my first time watching Terry, he was one of the better big men at this event. At 6’10” he was a solid rim protector, with shot-blocking ability. If he isn’t blocking it, he’s making things real tough either way. Terry has some untapped potential offensively, but now he strives on putbacks and even showed the ability to stretch it a bit. Runs the floor well for his size, also. If the junior can advance some post moves, it would boost his ceiling tremendously.
• Jaden Dade (5’10” / G 2022 / Thomas Worthington): The Thomas Worthington freshman worked well without the ball on Sunday. Dade fills the transition lanes well, maintaining the readiness to make a clean catch and finish at the hoop. Showed the ability to absorb contact and still finish as well. Dade has some ability to play on and off ball, also.
