I expect real good things to happen for this team, stacked at the guard position, with some size to mix it up. Here I take a look at the roster, as well as some breaking down a few players briefly.
Breaking down the roster:
• Brian Collier (6’0” / G 2020 / Grandview Heights): Watching Collier a couple times this year, he’s a scoring-lead guard that can fill it up. Limitless range combined with driving ability, Collier can torch a team on any given night. Going for a Central District Championship this season, I’ll be interested to see what’s in store this summer for the junior.
• Devan White – (5’11” / G 2020 / Columbus Northland): I got to watch the junior guard a couple times during the regular season. White was a pesky defender that was able to force turnovers. Playing off the ball mostly, the junior moved well and was a slashing threat at times. Looking forward to see the offensive side of things more from White.
• Kalil Camara (6’2” / CG 2020 / Westland): Camara is one of the most athletic hoopers in Central Ohio. The high flying combo guard can get to the rack in a blur and finish tough. A big time finisher in transition where he also excels. If Camara adds a consistent jumper, he’s going to be just that much more dangerous.
• Taquan Simington (6’2” / CG 2020 / Columbus South): Taquan Simington is fresh off a State Title appearance, where his team fell just short. Simington is going to be a terror on the AAU courts this spring and summer. The South guard is a two-way player that gets things done. A mid-range and inside scorer, who finishes well through traffic off the bounce as well. A lot of defenders will have trouble against the 6-foot-2 Simington this grassroots season.
Continuing:
• Max Stokey (6’6” / F 2020 / Buckeye Valley): Max Stokey plays primarily the center position for Buckeye Valley and does all his work in the paint. A rim protector with his big frame, has the ability to contest and send shots the other way. Stoney does a lot of his scoring on second chance outback opportunity, where he excels. Looking forward to catching more of his offensive game this summer.
• Derrick Hardin – 6’1 CG (Worthington Christian)
• Jake Warriner – 6’4 WF (Upper Arlington)
• Sean Moore – 6’5 WF (Reynoldsburg)
• Elijah Meredith – 6’5 F (Wellington)
