Recruiting Updates
Jermaine Hamlin (Lincoln)
Ranking: #32
Hamlin is by far and away the top uncommitted center in the state of Illinois. The senior big man is a shot blocking presence with his length and timing along with being a monster rebounder. Soft touch around the hoop and flashed an improving feel. He says that the schools he is talking to the most right now are St. Louis, Southern Illinois, IPFW, and South Dakota. JUCO and prep schools are also inquiring about him and those remain options as well depending on how things play out. He has not taken any visits yet.
Justin Eagins (Downers Grove South)
Ranking: #71
Eagins is a big time shooting threat from three. The lefty 6’2” two guard is a sniper from deep. He says that Grand Valley State and Rockhurst are talking to him the most. Neither of the D2s has offered, but he thinks both are close.
Trevon Hamilton (Curie)
Hamilton has been the rock at the point for a Curie squad that went 29-1 in the regular season and won the CPS championship. Hamilton told us that schools he is talking to include Aurora University, Dominican University, North Park, Robert Morris, Thomas College, and Olive Harvey. Only school he has plans to visit for sure at this point is Aurora University.
Carter Thurman (Plainfield North)
Ranking: #98
Thurman is a skilled wing that can shoot it really well from mid-range and stretches it out to three. He told us that Hope College, Elmhurst, and St. Ambrose are the schools in the most communication at this stage. Those are his three finalists he will make a decision between. He has visited all of them already.
Michael Hodges (Schaumburg)
Ranking: #105
Hodges is an undervalued scoring point guard who told us “As of right now I have some NAIA interest from St. Francis, Culver Stockton, Lincoln Christian, and Judson. Then D3 from Illinois Wesleyan, Elmhurst, Carthage, and Olivet Harvey junior college.”
Trace Williams (Homewood Flossmoor)
Ranking: #115
Long and lanky two guard with a decent feel for the game. Played with a high activity level, solid passer for an off guard, and has a nice looking shot off the catch. He said Alabama State has contacted him a little and Columbus State is a school showing more interest. He plans on visiting Columbus State during his spring break.
Raheem Anthony (DePaul Prep)
Ranking: #146
Anthony has a strong frame and has flashed ability to score in stretches for DePaul Prep. The combo guard mentioned that Bellevue and St. Mary’s Minnesota are talking to him the most.
Jaxson Dian (Lemont)
Ranking: #175
Dian is a point guard that has some quality size to him at 6’2”. He is a three point shooting threat with a consistent shot from his combo guard spot. When it comes to recruiting he told PHI “Right now I’ve been focusing on St. Ambrose, Illinois College, and Elmhurst College. Ripon has recently been texting me a lot and same with Culver-Stockton. I plan on taking overnight visits to St. Ambrose, Illinois College, and Elmhurst once the season ends.”
Cameron Bowlby (Marissa-Coulterville)
Ranking: #209
Bowlby is a sleeper point guard out of southern Illinois. The flashy lefty guard is a slick ball handler and playmaker. He told us the main school he is in communication with at this time is Fontbonne where he plans on visiting after the season.
