These teams have some potential to either make a run, or surprise some people with their performance on the court!
Pre-Tourney Scribbles:
Beechcroft (17-5): After rocking their way to a 17-5 record during the regular season. Beechcroft will be a team to watch in the postseason. After losing some talented Seniors from last years team, Beechcroft has rebounded really nicely. A season of runs for this squad, led by Na’Elle Simmons. With not the toughest schedule regular season, people may overlook Beechcroft, but certainly a team to keep an eye on. A team that plays with a nice physicality and a virtue of scorers, on a well balanced offense. They will open things up in the postseason against Bloom Carroll.
Granville (16-4): Granville had a really solid year in the LCL, going 12-0 in conference play. The Blue Aces have a solid win over Johnstown on their resume, who has been a d3 Power this season. Granville is another team that is going to look to beat you with a balanced attack. With five players averaging from seven to 11 points a contest, Junior guard Jake Stone leading the way. A team with just a couple Senior contributors, they will rely heavily on a handful of Sophomores and Juniors in any tourney run.
Highland (14-8): Highland basically ran through the KMAC Conference this season, at 14-8 overall. The Scots have shown flashes of solid defense, as they went 12-2 in conference. Throw all of that out of the window however, as tourney time is a whole different game. Highland will heavily rely on Clemson baseball commit Mack Anglin to produce, their only player putting up more then 12 points a night. With any run at all, Highland will have to rely heavily on upper class leadership to lead the way. If the right Highland team shows up, they could make it tough for many teams in their bracket.
Buckeye Valley (10-10): Buckeye Valley, is an interesting team to breakdown. The Barons are very young and will be really good in the future. Three freshman starters and another coming off the bench shows the youth of BV. A team that has had its ups and it’s downs definitely. When playing their best ball, they ran over teams like Marion Pleasant, Linden-McKinley and Ontario. Also, an impressive 41 point thumping of Marion Harding. If the right Barons team shows up, they could easily surprise some people. A well coached team with some size. Junior guard Dylan Herbert is the leader of this Buckeye Valley team, an athletic scoring guard. With a lower seed, things will be tough for BV, but when playing their grade-a ball, they have looked tough.
