We saw some nice play from quite a few freshman and sophomores so this should have fans of the prospective programs excited about the future.
Terry Sanford Freshman Wing Davis Molnar: We like the potential that he has and what he can possibly be if he continues to work, which we are sure he will. He can knock down the trey ball consistently but is not just a shooter, we have seen him on several occasions go inside and mix it up with opposing bigs. One attribute that really stood out was his unselfishness, at times it’s if he’s almost too unselfish as he may pass up a shot or two.
Westover HS Sophomore Guard Darius Jewell: He knows his role on the team and doesn’t shy away from it at all. He is a player that can fill it up from three point land and although he didn’t have his best day shooting the ball, the simple fact that he is such a threat is something that defenses always have to be aware of. Later in the game, we saw him play some PG which is something that we feel will only benefit him in the future, he is one to keep an eye on over the summer and next season.
EE Smith HS Sophomore Guard Anthony Geddie Jr: His shot wasn’t falling for him in this game but he’s another player that is small in size but can knock down the outside shot. He has good ballhandling skills and is a pretty quick player, the next step for him is constantly attacking and not settling on the outside shot.
EE Smith HS Sophomore Guard Demetrius Polk Jr: One of the younger players that EE Smith will look to over the next few years to be productive. He didn’t have his best showing but you saw some flashes of how good he can possibly be, he knows how to get into the paint to draw fouls as well as keeping his defender off balance.
Westover HS Junior Guard Minas Drummond: Had a nice day for Westover, he is small in stature but plays the game with heart and showed that once he gets it going, his confidence only grows. One attribute that we really liked about him was how well he uses the floater when he gets into the paint. For your smaller guards we know it’s important that they are able to find ways to score over bigger opponents and it seems like he has that figured out already.
